I agree with Mack2. Also I'd like to ask, what makes you think "it looks like Dev is interested in more users rather than less."? Maybe it's not about how many users. Maybe it's about providing a certain service (free, uncensored, easy to access, open source) for no matter how many or few users want to use it. Afaik this combination of features is unique.

The most hilarious thing for me is that OP called dev a non-professional and a noob. I mean, I don't know how to do coding, but I have enough common sense to be able to imagine the enormous level of skill and determination building a site like this needs.

And the audacity to demand spamming dev... reminds me of those happy old times where villagers grabbed forks and torches to go after that one woman who knew about healing herbs and helped other women give birth without dying, just because that one cow died of age.

Oh, also, to put it very simple: new model takes space, and space costs money. But the old model takes space, too, even when it's less. So running both takes much, much more space and much, much more money.

Because it didn't fail yet, it's still a work in progress. And there were a LOT of people who complained about the old model. I suggest you take a look at the perchance commutinty on reddit, there are a lot more people than here, but even on lemmy you can see it when you take a closer look, for example: https://lemmy.world/post/36459439 atm, 3 up votes, 7 down votes. People do like the new model when it doesn't have hiccups due to finetuning the settings.

About letting people switch, I already mentioned it in a much older post: dev would have to set up the infrastructure first, which would probably take a lot of time. Maybe dev rather use this extra time to work on the new model. After all, it's already almost 2 months and you can see how people get impatient bc they don't understand how much workload this is for a single person.

As for the ads, dev deliberately chose to make them as minimal as possible to make it as user-friendly as possible. If ads get more invasive, people start to use adblock, too. IMO, perchance is a gift by dev to us, and maybe dev even takes pride in giving it completely free. That's the only explanation I can imagine why dev doesn't take donations, bc many people mentioned they'd love to. But even with such a big heart, dev faces limits in resources as time and money (and probably energy), that's why we don't get the old model.

For me, too. but I'm more into t2t. I've basically started from zero with no knowledge whatsoever, but I've already learned so much about ai behaviour and surprisingly about myself. I hope some day I have the energy to try to understand coding a little bit, but atm, that's still final boss level for me 😅

Uhm, yes, got a little carried away. But, well, I think everyone knows why by now 😅 Thanks!

And none of them even think to consider that dev could just easily decide to TAKE THE WHOLE SITE DOWN FOREVER because of ungrateful spoilt kids who want everything, for free, in perfect condition, right now, and don't stop bitching about it.

So thank you for this post.🌈✌️

Nope. To everything. Just let dev work out the problems instead of wasting precious time on answering "questions" like:

"The new AI sucks roll it back right now!!!!!!!11111!!!!"

"Why are you SO MEAN just give us the old model pweeeease?"

"Why does it take so long, ChatGPT makes updates in seconds!"

"Why do you ignore me when I say just pay 20 people out of your own pocket to get it done RIGHT NOW!"

and so on. I can totally understand why dev doesn't want to deal with this shit.

Second this. There's already a post on reddit from someone who tried (and only locally!). OP, tell us when you're done! Let's see how long it takes YOU to get a perfect working ai with no bugs or quirks. (Spoiler: It won't happen, ever, because every model has quirks and phrases it often falls back on.)

Uhhh...damn, I jinxed it. maybe because it's weekend.

I'm not complaining, just mentioning that I noticed those especially those two words (but also a few others) are used very frequently in my /mem and I'm curious if it's reason or cause of strange ai behaviour. Does anyone has this too?
