It’s called a cascade extinction event. With each endangered species their ecosystem is affected, leading to more becoming endangered. Eventually a threshold will be passed where human intervention won’t be enough to save them from extinction.

I’m in the navy. “Afloat” means “goes to sea”, generally. A museum ship might literally be floating in water, but it can’t go to sea.
I’m pretty sure the iPhone 13 is waterproof. Nothing will happen to it. Seriously, people drop these things into the ocean and fish them out days later and they still work. If you’re worried, you can clean it off with some soapy water and then let it air-dry.
Politicians have no interest in fixing this because politicians are landlords. Yes, even the NDP. It will never be fixed within our current political system. We can either continue around and around in our current, useless, reformist approach… or we can de-commodify and then nationalize housing.

Hmm, I wonder why the world is feeling worse and worse about an American-controlled world where the powers that be in America have a history of reaching across oceans to assassinate democratically elected politicians, install fascist governments friendly to American business interests, make life worse off for people in developing nations, and allow foreign governments to reign untold destruction onto innocent civilians with American-made weapons without recourse.
