I've heard this a few times and wholeheartedly believe it. But I don't know any sources, when I'm asked. Do you happen to know any?
Prunebutt
I switched back in 2005 (I think), because Windows XP didn't have the drivers for being installed on an S-ATA drive and SUSE could be installed without any hassle. I feel very old.
AFAIK, it is an aggregator. Meaning: you can pick and choose between search engines (google, bing, ...).
If you make your instance public, you make it harder to get profiled, since your search behavior can't be analyzed as easily.
Last but not least: You don't have to trust any search engine company.
I'm curious: Isn't Searx(ng) a bit less useful if you're the only person using it? I thought that pooling of searches make it harder to run targetting algorithms.
Bei mir funktionieren wenn ich eingeloggt bin nicht mal feddit.de communities, wie c/dach .
Nicht eingeloggt ist alles aktuell, eingeloggt seh ich nur drei Posts von vor einer Woche.
I'm seriously not a fan of China. But thinking that neoliberal western "democracies" are way less authoritarian is just a delusion.
Since OP wants to listen on PC as well: Antennapod can also sync via gpoddersync and nextcloud.
Works really nice and can be self-hosted if you want to.
What is your point? Tell me, what the chinese government is supposedly doing with non-chinese user-data that is not worse than what the US surveillance capitalism is currently doing?
Do you seriously think that China spread misinformation about "stolen elections"?
Yes it is. Why do you think thah TikTok removes that content in the first place? It 's because they are afraid to give paranoid, xenophobic, republicans any "reason" to ban them.
I actuallyethink that you are trying to derail the discussion into "you showld never trust tiktok".
The place of the headquarter doesn't necessarily reflecht the juristiction. And they developed both Douyin and Tiktok (it is the same app).
ByteDance is still incorporated in the Cayman Islands. Not the PRC.
Edit: You still haven't explained why the PRG has more of an incentive to spy on you personally than the NS government does.
Of course: China spies on the US. But as long as you're not carrying government secrets, you're a way more interesting target for the people in charge of the cops.
