Armenia refuses to help itself. The militias in nagorno-karabakh were reportedly weaker and more ill prepared during this attack than the previous one a year ago. They had one year to train and arm irregulars and set up defensive positions and they did nothing. They should have just handed NK over to the Azeris in a treaty or something instead of making some poor saps die to make a show of it if that was their entire plan, cower and wait. I'm sorry but I have little sympathy for this shit, they know who their neighbors are and their plans. They should have surrendered the land or dug in, instead they chose the cowardly middle path of doing nothing.
As I said elsewhere, Russia helped out Syria and Kazakhstan when they needed help because they haven't turned coat. Iran helped out Syria. Pashinyan could have been Assad but he chose to be Ghani. It's a lot easier to be a corrupt western puppet that flees when your master throws your nation to the wolves than it is to dig in and fight for your people.
It works well to sanction isolated small economies to siege them and stave them to death slowly, or turn them into sad little autarkies.
It doesn't work well to sanction huge economies and resource exporters, especially when you sanction a bunch of them at once they are just gonna form their own trade bloc outside of your influence.

They would have if Armenia didn’t become western bootlickers, they did a shitload to help out Syria and Kazakhstan. You can’t serve two alliances and Armenia turned to the west and doomed itself. Why should Russia do anything when Armenia itself will not? Why should Russia fight Armenia's war for them while Pashinyan hides in Yerevan and refuses to even set up additional defenses in Nagorno-Karabakh. It took like 12 hours for Pashinyan to even come out and say anything publicly, hiding with his head in the sand pretending nothing is happening and then blaming Russia for not doing everything for them.
Why should Russia help those who refuse to help themselves and try to suck up to the west? Armenia fucked up and they're reaping what they sowed. Sucks for the people in Nagorno-Karabakh that they must suffer for the weakness and greed of their elected leaders. There's no reason why the militias there should be even worse prepared than during the last azeri offensive, slip in some irregulars and military equipment dude! Fucking amateur hour. You can't be next to Turkey and be this negligent in your own defense, the Turks are brutal and they will destroy you with irregular warfare if you just do nothing. If only there was a nearby powerful military ally that was your friend historically that has experience helping their friends out against Turkish irregular war that you could learn from and get some equipment from!

Russia would actually be using its diplomatic weight to protect Armenia if Pashinyan didn’t become a traitorous western bootlicker. This is entirely his fault, he tried to appeal to NATO without realizing NATO cares a lot more about Turkey than Armenia
Maybe Pashinyan shouldn’t have cozied up with NATO if he wanted continued Russian assistance. He wanted his cake and to eat it too, and instead Armenia will lose everything and win nothing. This is on Pashinyan and his westward groveling. Russia has no need to fight a war on behalf of an ally who has spurned them to appeal to Nazis

It’s less so that Russia has sold them out, moreso that Armenia has abandoned and spurned Russia as an ally so Russia doesn’t really feel like getting involved in a war against Turkish proxies on their behalf. It all comes down to Pashinyan being a cuck who thinks he can trade Nagorno-Karabakh for future EU membership, which is so foolish you wonder if he’s just a straight up traitor
I haven't seen a single report of any Armenia victories or strikes, so it honestly seems like they probably should just surrender. It just seems like one-sided drone striking of poor Armenian saps standing by cold war era artillery.
