Sounds nice, although I am not sure if I would clump all topics together. Fermentation I would say is pretty different topic and even in fermentation you have things like sourdough that could be its own community. Although I understand that at least in the beginning there probably won't be enough posts for that to make sense.

I would be very interested in this and seeing some recipes from comrades, especially since we are a pretty diverse community. On reddit most foods you can see are very american centric.

Currently trying out NixOS, just switched from Gentoo. Interesting experience so far, will see if the switch will be permanent.

Immutable system, completely separated and well-defined development environments per project, and overall nix is pretty nice.

Yeah, I've been looking into that too. Currently, I am using LycheeSlicer, but it is a downgrade from what I was used to. I really hope one day we will have a nice open source printer like i3 that will help SLA get to the same level as FDM, but I remain skeptical.

The only shame is that due to how federation works, you cannot see posts made by people banned here. I wanted to commend on this, but you cannot find it due to the creator being banned here.

So far just contributing to other projects whenever I find something, missing. My main project that I am currently starting to work on is a Wayland Tiling Compositor written in Rust, but so far I am still in very early stages. I really like how Wayland works but so far all the compositors are lacking something I want, closest to what I want is DWL, but it still lacks some things I want.

I loved OctoPrint when I used it. Unfortunately, I switched to SLA printers and their support for anything open source really sucks.

I find the difference hard to believe, do you count your displays to that power consumption? With my desktop the overall power draw is something like 220W (when not gaming) and about 150W of that are just my displays.

It would be very interesting. I wonder how many people here are minorities and how multinational we really are. I think this is probably the most diverse and welcoming place I've ever interacted and would be interested to know if this is just a feeling or if there is something to back it up.

On the side node, will you share full results?

Thanks for suggestions, but those don't really help me if I want to use a self-hosted solution. I would have to either go back to YouTube or use Spotify.

Last.fm works pretty well, but my main issue with it, is that it is proprietary, so I would like to avoid it if possible. I tried using ListenBrainz but even after few weeks of my data it doesn't give me any recommendations and even when looking at users that are considered similar they are listening to completely different things.

Not really sure what is the style. Mainly just OSTs from anime, games etc. Take a look.

Why should that be part of lemmy? If you really wanted such feature it should be independent something like plugin into your browser. Same way as you would use plugins for things like spell checking.
