No idea, I'm just regurgitating another person's comment who mentioned that thunder was in progress ๐Ÿ˜…

Lemm.ee is shutting down at the end of this month.

You will need to create a new account on a new instance. You can export your current subscriptions, blocks, and favorited comments and posts by clicking on the Export JSON file in your profile settings page, which you can then use to import at your new instance. You'll need to export that file before the 30th.

To help find a new instance, check out this comment.

You don't have to go anywhere, thankfully, as your home instance lemmy.world is still going strong.

If this movies community moves somewhere, all you'll need to do is subscribe to the new community just as you did with this one.

Piefed is a different project from lemmy, but it's fully compatible with lemmy, so from your end it won't look or act any different. You'll be able to access it from your existing lemmy.world account.

It's a totally different project with a different codebase, but is Lemmy/activitypub compatible. Currently only one app supports it (interstellar), but more are coming (thunder).

Crap, I forgot this place was on lemm.ee!

After checking just now, it appears that it does! :D

Lemmy.world is already the largest instance, recommending it to more people seems like it'd just speedrun burnout like what happened to lemm.ee, not to mention centralization around .world goes against the philosophy of the fediverse.

That's a good point. On a similar note, Programming.dev had pretty severe database breakage that took quite some time to fix, but thankfully both instances seem to be healthy and working well nowadays. :)

NOTE: This is unfortunately a Youtube Free With Ads movie, which means Youtube will force you to watch it on the mobile app if you're on mobile so you cannot avoid the ads. Thankfully on desktop a good adblocker (uBlock Origin) will still work and avoid such nasty things.

Wikipedia Article of the movie.

This movie is chock full of excellent acting, witty dialog, and superb cinematography. It touches on so many aspects of history around the worker movement of the 1910's, including the IWW, famous Anarchists, and the troubles it faced.

It's quite unique in that it includes interviews with surviving people who knew John Reed and Louise interspersed with different parts of the movie, making it almost like a docu-drama, but with an incredibly high 32 million dollar budget (equivalent to 112 million today).

If you have any interest in unions, the early socialist movement in the United states, and a particularly well done romance, then I highly, highly recommend giving this a watch.

But be sure to have a good chunk of time to set aside, as the movie is 3 hours long!

EDIT: Hah, forgot I posted this here a year ago. Well, hopefully some new members will be able to see it ^^

Have an appreciation for Pixel Art, new or old? We've got a brand spankin' new community for it over at !PixelArt@retrolemmy.com, a real nice little themed instance that's just perfect for us.

We gots a whole mess of different styles like Vidya game art, fancy smancy modern art just for the sake of it, and even some that move! There's also some free instructional material in the sidebar to help you get started making your very own pixel art, even if you had absolutely no skill in it previously!

If you have some favorites in mind that ya wanna share, well we'd like to see those too, just slap 'em up there. Go on, put yer arm into it. There ya go. :)

Alternative direct link for those who may need it.
