Ehh... It's probably safer than a stock android even somewhat outdated, but eventually there may be some severe exploit that will never get a fix.

You're in a rough position right now, difficult to see what the future holds. Perhaps graphene overcomes this issue, perhaps not.

Agreed, It's entirely up to we the people.

Best thing we can do is unionize for an eventual general strike, and become involved in mutual aid and direct action in your local community.

I recommend the IWW, since it's a grassroots worker led union, without any corporate capture.

Hm, it should be. Are you not able to load the page, or does it still show the previous message about it being down for you?

Perhaps deleting the slrpnk.net cache/cookies in your browser might help?

It's possible to export your Subscriptions, Community/instance blocks, and saved posts/comments to an account on a different instance by exporting your account's JSON file, which you can do in your Account Settings page.

You can then import the JSON file in that same area on your alternative backup account, so that your experience is uninterrupted. Personally I would recommend making a backup account on Sopuli.xyz or Lemmy.cafe, they'll give you the most similar vibe due to how their instances are set up.

Yes! We're unexpectedly, but joyfully fully back up and running! 😄

poVoq will have a more detailed writeup on what happened at some point.

But it's so, so damn nice to be back! ^^

You can bring your current Subscriptions, Blocks, and favorited comments/posts by exporting your Account Settings JSON file, located in your account settings page as an 'Export' button toward the bottom right.

You can then use that file to import all those things at your new instance! :D

I learned today that Piefed potentially makes community migrations easier, particularly in regards to transferring existing posts as well. The mod of the !fullmoviesonyoutube@lemm.ee community may be taking that route, so you may be able to contact them to see how it goes.

If you'd rather stick to a lemmy based instance, Sopuli.xyz is (in my opinion) quite an excellent medium sized general purpose instance that's been around a while, and seems to have solid active admins that update to the latest lemmy version quickly. Its server is based in Finland.

Lemmy.zip is similarly sized to Sopuli, and is also a general purpose instance, though with a focus on PC gaming and tech. Not sure where they're based.

If you'd prefer a smaller instance, Lemmy.cafe has a solid admin (though it's only run by him, so maybe not as resilient to the bus factor). I think the server is based in the UK. I migrated two of my communities there many months ago, and it seemed to work out well.

Oh and as for the local communities you follow, they will have to move as well, so be sure to check if there's a post saying where they'll go at some point.

Likely very useful information for the near future.

Pretty cool theme for a game jam (though I might be slightly biased 😉).
