I don't think we need to defed and I think some of the admins on lemmy.ml would agree.
They did more than lock it, they deleted it for rule 7. (which, I'm fine with the rule 90% of the time, but mods clearly understood this was a special case. Deleting the thread after 200 comments is such a weird thing)
lemmy.ml also blocked the_dunk_tank. That's how butthurt they were over this.

Updates inevitably lead to things breaking sometimes. If you want to avoid things breaking as often, using something stable (like Debian) would help.

The benefits you are describing are probably because of KDE vs Gnome and not a distro thing.

Fedora does things differently than Ubuntu/Debian (mainly package management, but there are other small things). Because of this, noobs & intermediate users alike will get frustrated at things "not being how they are supposed to be"
All that said, if Fedora works for you, keep on using it. I daily drove it for about a year before switching to other things.
I personally don't think you should join a party/org unless you agree with >85% of their party program. For most people on hexbear, DSA is way too reformist to actually take them seriously.
No party/org is going to be perfect, but I would say FRSO is one of the better ones and likely would be worth your time. If you decide you ideologically don't agree as time goes on, nobody is going to force you to stay.
