I hope they can get their bank account restored. Certainly seems like a questionable move by the bank, though it's entirely possible we're missing more context.

But also, that headline is polemic bullshit that could just as easily come from a tabloid like The Sun.

Mint chocolate. Hate that stuff, but I don't mind mint or chocolate.

Apple Vision Pro, as in the product currently on the market, almost certainly no. With its drawbacks and price point, it only appeals to a very small group of people. However, I think Apple intends to build an entire Apple Vision ecosystem and that might eventually be successful if they stick with it. But I think to be a viable product for consumers, it would have to be proper lightweight AR-glasses instead of just a VR headset with very good passthrough. It'll have to be comfortable enough and have the battery capacity to be worn for many hours. That kind of technology still seems pretty far off though, so I wonder how Apple plans to bridge that gap. It'll be difficult to keep app developers interested in a product with a very small userbase.

Bin hier auf der Seite der ideologisierten Kräfte.

It's great to see discussions on Lemmy where both opposing viewpoints are upvoted. You definitely don't see that on reddit. Seems to be getting less common on Lemmy too though, unfortunately.

The museum island in Berlin. Just so many interesting artifacts from ancient cultures, you could easily spend multiple days there. (Just don't think too hard about what all those artifacts are doing in Berlin while you're there...)

Again, the character would still be written and defined by a human writer, pouring their soul into it just like they would a "dumb" NPC. I don't see how that "soul" is lost by giving that human-written character the capability to naturally respond to language.

These are all very valid points, but they don't explain why there is a noticable difference in behaviour to cyclists, despite their traffic conditions being the exact same (perhaps even more dangerous for scooters). The road being dangerous is also no excuse to become a danger to others by riding on the sidewalk. Of course, it would be best if the traffic conditions were more safe for micromobility. But as long as that's not the case, the reasonable thing is to protect yourself.

These NPCs would have to be written by people too. Otherwise you'd just get ChatGPT. Depending on complexity, it might even require more writing work.

Where I live, it used to be Twingos instead of Beetles for some reason.

The way it works right now is usually over the cloud. I've already tried out a bit of "Convai" as a developer, which is a platform where you can create LLM NPCs and put them in Unreal Engine. It's pretty neat, not perfect, but you can definitely give characters thousands of lines of backstory if you want and they will act in character. They will also remember any conversations a player had with them previously and can refer to them in later convos. Can still be fairly obvious that you're talking to an LLM though, if you know what to ask and what to look for. Due to its cloud-based nature, there is also some delay between the player input and the response. But it has a lot of potential for dialog systems where you can do way more than just choose between 4 predefined sentences. Especially once running these things locally won't be a performance-issue.
