I'll probably go for it, but my worry with standalone headsets is always the comfort. I can't wear something like a Quest 3 for longer than an hour or so because it puts too much weight on my face, while I could wear my Valve Index all day. I hope they've found a good solution for that issue on the Deckard.

Evil is not held back by scruples or moral boundaries. Evil people will do whatever they need to to succeed. That includes manipulating people, something which today's technology facilitates. Add to that the fact that for many people in developed countries, life is slowly getting worse instead of improving over the last few years. The frustration over that can easily be turned into hate against minorities, foreigners etc.

Unfortunately, Tate holds a lot of influence over many young men. It's in Musk's/Trump's interest to let him continue to spread his message of misogyny and hate.

Not even slightly surprised about the US, but I'm disappointed in Romania for just letting them go.

It has been quite a while since I played it, but I remember it being pretty good but with a combat system that takes some getting used to.

Yeah, but back then they had the good excuse of having created a very innovative RPG with a level of depth and simulation rarely seen before. The remake devs aren't building another engine from scratch or anything, like PB did. And it's not like they're intentionally recreating the janky UI of the original. The new UI is very different and mostly intended for controllers. The movement is also bad in almost the opposite way that Gothic 1's movement was "bad" (floaty vs stiff). Wouldn't have minded so much if they tried to do a remake that was as faithful as possible to the original - instead they're trying to modernize everything but aren't doing a very good job at it.

I'll give it another go, but my initial impressions of this demo unfortunately aren't great. Very poorly optimized, buggy, and janky UI. The movement is super floaty, with a ton of input delay and slow animations. While the German voiceacting is good, it's very noticable in many dialogues that it was translated from English. The environments are well crafted, but the overall graphical presentation has issues, in terms of lighting, reflections and especially the forced AA which causes tons of artifacts. The remade music, however, is wonderful. Really gives it that Gothic-feeling. I hope the devs can still turn this around, because there is definitely potential.

I imagine what would the world be like if streaming was available during Hitlers rise. Would people just be living in their bubble of “thanks for watching, hit like and subscribe, and if you use this code on simplisafe you’ll get 20 percent off!” winky face

Almost certainly. The majority of people just kept living their normal lives in Hitler's Germany as well. Until the war at least.

Also Friedrich Merz’s grandfather was a Nazi. He was a mayor of the only town that had a Workers Strike when the NSDAP came into power. And he violently beat that Strike town to the core, so that certainty gives a vibe to Friedrich.

I don't see how that matters, especially with how many people this applies to in Germany. My maternal grandfather may have been a nazi as well, at least he never talked about what he did during "that time". Doesn't make me one.
