Yes, for sure. While the identity of a user can be checked, nobody is going to do this every time. IMO the simplest solution would be to just always show the instance even if a display name is set.
Da ich hier bewusst in einem öffentlichen Forum schreibe habe ich kein Problem dass meine Posts eben öffentlich sind. Ich denke aber dass es eine interessante Frage ist, ob und wie das Fediverse DSGVO-konform sein kann.

What you're describing are just feelings, the sense of self-worth. Those are indeed just brain chemistry. What I (and presumably OP) mean by sense of self is the conscious experience of you being a "self" inside your body, separate from the other. This self could still be the same even with a completely different personality and different feelings. Or maybe it wouldn't be. But the point is that we currently know very little about how we get a consciousness or what it's made of. This may change in the future, but until then I can't say we don't have some form of "soul" with any confidence.

Not necessarily. If there is such a thing as a soul, I see no reason why all the other bags of meat wouldn't have one as well.

There isn't any particular definition of "soul" that I believe in, but I think that there are many open questions about what consciousness is and how it works. Until we know more about that, I reserve my judgement on whether something that could be called a soul exists.

Setting a display name hides the instance bit. You have to check the URL or profile to see which instance they're on, which people definitely won't do every time. Especially if an impersonator just joins inside a thread mid-conversation, it won't be obvious at all that it's suddenly a different person writing.
