They're not anti theft devices. Never were. They are anti losing my shit devices.

Slap one on your keys, wallet, etc, and when you lose them, you can track them to see where they ended up falling out of your pocket.

If you want a tracking device, pay for one. They'll use a SIM card, be undetectable, and track perfectly without needing a network of phones.

I have issues with antenna pod. When I tap on a podcast, half the time I don't hear anything, and I need to tap on an older one, then back to the new one again. Which then marks the older one at being played..

On Android auto the play/pause screen sometimes disappears, and the only way to get it back is to use my phone to resume the podcast, which then makes it appear back on Android auto.

I hate these bugs so much. I am really tempted to go back to pocket casts

The law states that if you join .ca, you're legally Canadian. Congrats on your new citizenship!

What country do..I mean did you belong to before you became Canadian?

No porn? Why?

.ca allows porn. You actually have to click "show NSFW" during sign up if you want to see it, so it's not on by default, and it's very easy to turn on/off if you want it.

I find that the instances that ban porn also ban a lot of other stuff that isn't bad. Feels like I'm in church and everything is being censored.

It's not cheap. Buying a crack shack in a shitty province with basically no job opportunities costs more than a nice place in LA.

Actually.

Getting a piece of shit, run down, SHARED town house in Nova Scotia costs more than a decent house in LA.

Government. Not liberals or conservatives, but the government as a whole. Canada has had many years where both liberal and conservatives were in charge, and nothing changed.

Canada doesn't allow competition. We have 3 main internet providers, 3 main phone plan providers, like 2 grocery store chains, a couple airlines, etc.

When other companies attempt to come in to break up monopolies, they lobby, and get them shut down.

I mean where are we going to go? America isn't really an alternative, as much as Americans think it is. Our healthcare, gun laws, etc are things that make Canada really good. We could move to some European or Scandinavian country, but that's not as easy as it sounds, especially when you need to learn a new language, get accepted, move your entire life, and live in such a different culture.

So people in Canada just accept it. Maybe one day monopolies will be broken up, but there are no parties that are going to do that now. Left or right leaning.

You'd be correct!

At what point do people just go "nah, good luck tho" and refuse to develop for a company that acts this way?

This reads like a standard NDA but written by a crazy ex who you have a restraining order against.

Sorry. I'm just trying not to get evicted due to living in a country with the highest rent, internet, food, and data plan prices.

You can see all the same content from any other instance

Nah. I moved from ml to world to .ca, and .ca is the best. I didn't realize how much content ml and world defederated from. I love it on .ca

While the apps we have now are really great, I think that number will go back up a bit once boost and sync for Lemmy are released.

I find myself missing so many features I would consider super basic from Boost. Things that would make my Lemmy experience so much better. Even if the apps we have now do those things, they feel clunky and not as good.

Even features aside, the UI makes a huge difference. There are a few Reddit apps I personally couldn't get into, because of font sizes, spacing, contrast, etc. I'm feeling the same way with Lemmy. I'm tolerating the app I currently use, only because I know Boost is on the way.

It literally benefits everyone.

How many hours each day do people take to "wake up" and get going? I'd argue people are mostly useless up until close to lunch time. Then, people wind down when the day end is nearing, meaning companies are losing more productive hours each week.

I also would prefer to do longer days if I already dragged my ass out of bed. I don't run for errands daily to make them shorter. I pile them up, then take 4-5 hours one day, vs 1 hour each day. I am already out doing it, might as well do them all, and have more time to relax at home other days.
