In fact, many projects forbid pushing to master entirely and only allow reviewed merging to the master. Then, every time the master changes, a new release of the software is made (either manually or automatically with CI/CD)

My recommendation is using typst instead. It's basically the modern version of latex. And it has a good online collab platform too.
And please just enable blocking cookies and annoyances in unlock origin. It has filters that can be enabled, and you'll never see a cookie banner again.
Agreed. But if big brother really wants, they can detect a weird program running, a weird hardware being on it, or just that someone is tabbing around without actually doing something.
