I get that, during casual conversation etc. But what if there's a bunch of violet and purple flowers and they pick a violet one? The distinction can matter and knowing it can be useful. You can't use other people's ignorance as an excuse.

Even crayon companies make both for a reason JS :P

As a long time Frontline, NOVA and News Hour watcher: Fuck these people. They're literally killing some of the best investigative and science journalism we have. They're clearly just trying to make this country dumber under the guise of cleaning up the budget.

Violet's wavelength is singular, and near the edge of the visible spectrum while purple has 2 peaks and is in the middle, as mix of red and blue (as stated). Think harmonics but with light.

They are very much different colors. The shade/hue/etc. are all different values. 4F2F4F vs 800080.

Dude, hell yes, thank you for this! The place is definitely going on the list for my next road trip now. I usually run a big loop and I've been to Texas more than enough, so I've been looking for other things to check out on my way through the south western states.

You're probably right, they also had the mid-season breaks back then. Which really slowed the pacing down. So even when watched weekly now, you don't get to digest it all the same way.

Like the recent Gorn episodes. Those would have been the mid-season finale & premiere on the older shows.

PS - I still hate Neelix... with a passion. I literally dread every scene with him during every rewatch. They should have seriously just shot him out of the airlock in episode 3. And B'Elanna to a lesser extent (she acted like a spoiled child, not an angry Klingon).

That order is so broad, it'd probably be easier to just block Belgium from the internet lol

I actually enjoyed the premise of the wedding planner episode. Again, I just think they take it too far ~~sometimes~~ most of the time.

spoilerAs a lore nerd (probably the only reason I still watch tbh) I loved that they finally confirmed Trelane was an early (younger) evolution of the Q, for example.
And I'll give you the fact that TOS was a bit strange and I'm fine with episodes showing homage. But think about it, that show only ran for 3 seasons and when it was rebooted in 1979 for the movies (and later with TNG) it took itself a lot more seriously. Especially once Wesley was gone on TNG.

I couldn't stand Discovery at all. All of the crying and emotional break-downs ruined it for me. It felt like watching a high school drama where the whole being in space part was just a backdrop. (13 Reasons Why: In Space!)

SNW feels like it's trying to do the opposite by being quirky and just taking it too far. A high school rom-com rather than a full blown drama, if you will. (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: With Aliens!)

As someone who's been watching Trek for 40+ years. These new shows just don't feel like Star Trek anymore. The franchise has been co-opted into... something else.

God, I hope not...

I swear, Paramount must've hired all of the old Nickelodeon staff or something. What's next, a Strange New Worlds and Sabrina: The Teenage Witch cross-over?

(I'd honestly prefer a Pete & Pete cross-over if that's an option. Where they have to use Petunia as an intermediary for a race that only communicates through tattoos. That or Doug.)

This is actually really cool. I would check it out next time I'm out traveling. But I can't seem to find whether they're open to the public or do tours or not. No observatory or restaurant on the top floor either, that I can find.

Guess it's time to start "looking at office space" in the Tulsa area :P

Sounds like you got very-unlucky with WD then just regular-lucky with Seagate :P

A good way to think of "quality" in terms of how the manufacturing industry uses the term: Even if Seagate has a 2-4% failure rate (which they do, see my other comment) that still means 96-98% of their drives are just fine (and you probably fall in this group, which is great). But in terms of modern manufacturing, your failure/return rate should be ~1% or less. Otherwise you're just throwing money away, not only on the RMAs, but also all the wasted time/money on manufacturing/disposing of all of those failed drives. So it's a potential 2-3 fold loss (so 4-12% in their case) in revenue. That's not a very good business strategy.

Not to mention you're dealing with millions of drives and customers. Which leads to hundreds/thousands of people voicing their frustrations publicly and you developing a bad reputation. Again, they've done it to themselves.
