I guess it depends on where you live. In my town its just assumed the cars are going to stop anyways and so pedestrians are dangerously dismissive of the existence of cars on crossways, sometimes people don't even look before crossing.
Drivers have learned this and are always super careful near crossways and new arrived pedestrians get used to it quickly and keep the pattern going.
I like these but I struggle to find a use for it in our house. What would you guys use it for?
I'm in Europe and haven't seen it yet either, so I guess it's just random and we've been lucky.
Oh you'd love our "warning: road in poor condition" signs then. Those always tick me off.
In my country there's sometimes signs that say something like "caution: accident prone area". I never thought it distracting when driving.

Turkey is so full of archeological wonders, they can't dig a hole without finding something.
I was so sad when I saw in one of their museums a section with artifacts recovered from what they called an "emergency escavation" before the scholars had to make way for the new construction that was going to happen on that particular site.
The museum didn't mince words either, clearly stated something like "what was possible to recover in the emergency escavation". Now it's just concrete over it.
I'm so with you on that. All these little steps towards that outcome make me so giddy and hopeful.
I really don't know why, but it's just such an amazing thought knowing that life thrives or thrived somewhere else.
That life requires a community working together, they can but they need to join a community like that. We're social creatures we need each other.
