Very similar to the app I use called Kinly Connect, glad you found something that works for you

I genuinely care about my friends and family, but I forget to stay in touch and it makes me feel awful.

I’ll go weeks or months without reaching out, not because I don’t care, but because once someone is out of sight they’re out of mind. Then I remember randomly, feel guilty, and put it off again.

I’ve tried reminders, calendars, notes but nothing really sticks long-term. It’s especially frustrating because I do want to maintain these relationships, it’s like my brain just doesn’t cooperate.

Recently I’ve found a mobile app that helps (after rummaging through the useless, overwhelming ones) but I’m curious does anyone else struggle with this? Have you found anything that actually helps, or is this just one of those autism things you learn to live with?

Edit: since a few people have reached out the app I use is called Kinly Connect

That's so they can transfer user data between IOS and google play users. The developer cleared that up a while ago

I see where you're coming from but I found enough value in the first 7 days to convince me to stay on

[–] Pin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Yeah in my eyes it's worth the €3 a month but can see why you'd think that

Not sure why you think that? Developer said he keeps everything private and would never sell data on

Yeah you can set it to however many people you want. I only have it as a few close relationships personally, and yeah you can set it up for people you haven't contacted in a long time. I'd recommend trying it whilst the developer has made it free to try

Of course! Hope it helps you like it did me

I recently made a post in this community about how ADHD has caused me to lose a lot of relationships over the years through forgetting to stay in touch, and a lot of you guys resonated with the post (145 upvotes!)

I also mentioned how I used an app to help me resolve this issue and whilst it wasn't perfect it definitely helped me keep some close relationships. Well funnily enough, the founder of the app reached out to me and said that he was happy seeing his app was a solution to my problem and wanted me to let people know he has made it free for people to try now to help solve the problem even more.

For anyone who upvoted or just seen the post and related the app is called Kinly Connect and I would recommend

Yeah I feel like the problem a lot of the time, for people like us, is that we think we have to have a full conversation which creates friction. This app helped me to realise all it takes is something small even a gif lol

Yeah never thought of that! Kinly could be for the reminders and intervals part, I'll have to try it out, thanks

Yeah that's great and I used to do similar as they'd often reach out to me during that time as well. I also think its useful for people to find tools that help them all year round if they wanted to reach out more than just once a year

I'm still trying to work on this as well. I've found small messages is all it takes, but in my head I used to always feel like I had to do a long catch-up which just put me off. I know a lot of people like us struggle with this so thought I'd share whats worked for me

It's called Kinly Connect. It’s just a little reminder app for relationships. I add a few contacts and it tells me when I haven’t talked to them in a while, and allows me to add notes/reminders to them. Helps with the out of sight out of mind thing without overwhelming me.
