Owain Glyndŵr Day is held annually on 16 September in Wales, as a celebration of Owain Glyndŵr, the last native Prince of Wales and founder of the first Welsh parliament.

The Senedd will debate this petition on 13 September 2023.

History is such a key subject for us here in Wales. Stories from our nation show us how we have developed over the centuries to become what we are today. Notable characters have steered this interesting history, with none more prominent than Owain Glyndŵr, who has contributed so much to our identity, and for many, he is a symbol of the nation. It is very disheartening to see that Sycharth, Glyndŵr's home, is almost forgotten deep in the heart of rural Powys, and the place is not very accessible for people to visit.

It is time for the Government to ensure that this vital site is safeguarded for the next generation, by purchasing it and ensuring that it is more accessible to enable people to visit and appreciate this wonderful site. It is disappointing to see that all our castles throughout Wales are protected, but that this site is hardly advertised, not to mention celebrated. It’s time to change the way we view the history of Wales, and Sycharth would be a good starting point.

The 21-year-old Netherlands international has joined the Reds on a five-year contract.

Liverpool have rejected a verbal offer from the Saudi Pro League to sign Mohamed Salah.

The proposal, worth in excess of £100million plus substantial add-ons, was given no consideration and turned down immediately.

It was an approach made on behalf of Al Ittihad during an amicable call to Liverpool director Mike Gordon on Thursday night.

The Anfield club, however, reiterated the 31-year-old is not for sale and consider the case closed.

That view is not shared by the Saudis, though, who are expected to maintain a strong interest.

Ryan Gravenberch is due to fly into Merseyside this Thursday evening after Liverpool finally made a breakthrough in their summer-long attempt to sign the Holland star.

The Reds agreed a fee thought to be in the region of £35m, including additional bonus-related payments, for the Bayern Munich midfielder, after a protracted transfer saga where they had three separate approaches for the 21-year-old rejected over the course of the summer window.

If all goes to plan, Gravenberch is due to undergo a medical at a Liverpool medical facility on Friday, before completing a deal, where he is expected to sign a five-year contract.

Central defenders? We don't need no stinkin' central defenders.

Liverpool have signed midfielder Wataru Endo from Stuttgart for a fee of around 19m euros (£16.2m), subject to a work permit and international clearance.

The 30-year-old Japan international has agreed a four-year contract.

Councils need to achieve 70 per cent recycling by 2024-25, which Flintshire was close to hitting in 2019 but there has been a decline since, with the authority achieving just 60 per cent in 2021.

A six-figure fine believed to be in excess of £600,000 is the penalty for missing the target and Flintshire Council chiefs have previously been hauled in front of the Welsh Government’s Minister for Climate Change Julie James to explain the shortfall.

New information boards at one of Flintshire’s most historic sites have been vandalised and stolen in what has been described as an “attack on the community”.

Caergwrle Cllr Dave Healey, a historian and Flintshire Council’s cabinet member for the environment reported the damage at the village’s castle remains on Wednesday (July 19).

Two panels have been removed, and the whole supporting structure for one of them has been pulled out of the ground.
