I made https://lemmy.ml/c/shittyasklemmy which was inspired by r/shittyaskreddit. So get over there and start shitposting because we need more shitposting on this website.
This. I participate in homebrewcomputers on reddit, would be nice to see something like that here, although the website is small enough that posting diy computer stuff in "Open Source" would probably be acceptable.
We need shitposting like okbuddyretard and copypasta and stuff.
I've used ChatGPT for things like generating c linker scripts or writing a bochs configuration file. It would have taken me 30 minutes to research how to make a bochs config file but since I got ChatGPT to shit out something wrong but close to correct, I only had to fill in the incorrect stuff based on common sense and google a few things.
I'm running esp32 cameras on zoneminder. They don't make esp32 compatible cameras without the ir filter but I found one seller that sells them with only a little blop of superglue holding it together. The ir filter is also at the back where it can be carved out with a knife instead of at the front of the lense where it's 100% impossible to remove. They probably get paid money by smart camera manufactures to not sell ir filter removable cameras.
The night vision isn't very good because the maximum exposure the camera can do isnt very high but it's still a hell of a lot better than the conventional options of either 1)an affordable smartphone app based camera that spies on you or 2) a "proper" rtsp camera that can cost over $700 just for a non wireless non night vision one. I bought a ir led light bar to immuninate the fuck out of it which works well enough.
Until they start doing a more effective job at cracking down on sellers selling ov2460 cameras that have an easily removable ir filter, this is the best option for now.

Ugh, I wanted to make a few sublemmys but if it's that much work, forget it. One thing that's lacking around here are the shitposting subreddit equivalents. r/Copypasta, r/shittyaskreddit, r/okbuddyretard, that kind of thing.
All I ever do on reddit is shitpost and say absurd bullshit to throw off ai learning as much as possible.

God fucking dammit next thing you know employers are going to require employees to get implanted mind control devices if you want to have a job.
We'll have better open source hardware eventually. Today's fpgas, at least the affordable ones, aren't quite powerful enough to make something as performant as a modern motherboard but we'll get there eventually. People are already working on homebrewed x86 stuff which is going to set the groundwork for 20 years from now when every single computer not made in a hobbiest's garage is as locked down as a modern iPhone.
