I never really got into reddit.

Getting in on Lemmy (relatively) early made it feel more specifical so I actually do more than search it for answers

I'm generally ambivalent at best about the institution of marriage, but my wife (as you might conclude) was decisively pro-marriage.

Really it doesn't change anything, just treat it like an excuse to buy your SO a nice ring and throw a huge party, if that's the kind of thing you're into (and if not, then don't include those things as part of your engagement/wedding).

I woke up during my wisdom teeth removal.
I tried to let them know
I have no idea if I was successful, because for all I know I was making crazy sounds while unconscious.

If you're going to be strict, there exist no true Christian, because every single Christian has violated some Christian tenant, especially because some tenants are contradictory.
But if you allow enough wiggle room to allow for the existence of Christians, then you're going to run straight into true Scotsman when you try to exclude specific groups

What type of horse kicked you in the head to make you think that "no true Scotsman" cannot apply to serious topics?

no Christians supported mass murderer
Hitler and his supporters were Christians
No ~~true~~ bible-believing Christians supported it

Sounds an awful lot like the scenario that you described. In fact it matches the archetypical example so well that it's kinda wild that you quoted it when trying to say it doesn't apply

I'm not so sure of that Christian version of "no true Scotsman", but it's true that religion is typically just a tool used by people with power to direct the people to violence, rather than the source of it.
But man is it an effective tool for that purpose.

Felt exactly the same about the Mercy of Gods.

Reading (listening to) War of the Noobs, and honestly it's getting a bit stale. It didn't hook or make me really laugh like earlier books on the series.

Recently finished This Inevitable Ruin, and DCC is always a good time.

My dream:

In every city and town, local horticulture and landscaping shops would have hearty grass alternatives, a combination of plants selected from the local biome, that could withstand moderate foot traffic and don't require replanting every year.

I've never actually seen any horticulture shops offer such a seed package, granted I haven't really been looking since I don't have a house.

I mean, it depends on what convention you're attending.

Like... Are we at the furry convention? In which case, yeah I agree.
Some of these are pretty weak, but still valid imo because it's specifically asking for ones from your youth; the start of your freak journey
