Yeah, not just Canadians. I immigrated to the US and lived there for almost 25 years before I moved out, My kids are American citizens and one still lives there. I wanted to go back and visit but I'm brown and live in South America and don't feel like going to prison so I guess I'm not going to be going anytime soon.

America is a dumpster fire lol, they have all these "checks and balances" but then one guy can just make all the trade policy and land use decisions by decree. What even is the point of their congress

yeah the like 10 tankies in the US really threw that election...? The takes from people on lemmy are so fucking strange.

So I can't be myself?

Identity politics exists to divide the working class. Keeping us all poor and fighting with eachother is the only outcome.

Well, my kids are in university so, no.

The point is they know what the 2020s is. I had this conversation with them and they were able to pick out distinct styles and talk about all sorts of local and international stuff they listen to and watch. They have friends and go to local shows. They have their own thing going on. They can look at pictures from the 2000s, 2010s and now and tell the difference where I can't. Just because you're out of touch and seemingly miserable doesn't mean no one has a distinct identity today lol.

Sorry to be the one to break it to you but that is because you are old. My kids listen to distinct music, play distinct games and know a whole group of celebrities I never heard of and will look back at the 20s as their teenage years that were distinct from the time that they look back on it from.

I don't know if this is the right place for this but I see you are trying to make it easier for new users, is there a way to block key words? I get it that it is in English so that is going to skew it but I don't live in the US I don't actually care about the Trump Reality TV show.

Yeah but the unvaxxed population in India are literally living in shacks with dirt floors and can barely read but the unvaxxed population in the US choose this because of facebook posts

When I was growing up in India I believed that I was surrounded by the dumbest and most ignorant people on earth, then I moved to the US for a while and was surprised most people remembered to breathe.
