Don't stand here and try to tell us it's not a moral issue. It is. And people who refuse to learn anything are doing something wrong.

I literally said it is a moral issue. And I get the importance of people changing. But you have to accept that you can't control this. You can lead by example or you can try to educate people. If you really want to control people, become a dictator. Judging people doesn't make the world a better place. OP said they don't like religion, but this is exactly what religion does: it declares there's one right way to live and judges anyone who dares to not live that way.

I think you're mixing up intellectualism and morality. There are many reasons people choose not to eat meat, and some of those reasons are emotional or moral rather than intellectual. Some people only eat a vegan diet because their doctor told them they had to. Are those people somehow more intellectual than someone who researched the science and came to the conclusion that humans are omnivores?

You have already judged the outcomes of people's decisions as being objectively correct or incorrect. To you, eating meat is incorrect regardless of the reasons for doing so. That is not an intellectual stance, it is a moral one. You are ultimately judging people for having different values than you. Maybe they don't care about the environment, maybe they don't care about the safety of animals or other people. Like it or not, to care about those things is emotion. You can argue they're wrong as much as you like, but you can't prove that any human behavior is objectively "the right thing to do," meaning you are not as objectively correct as you think you are. There isn't a one-fits-all solution for how to live. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can stop judging others for not being like you.

I don't know if you are in a place where you can get CBD, but it really seems to help my dog when he has an upset stomach. It's often the difference between sleeping through the night and getting up every hour so he can go eat grass outside. A lot of pet stores sell it.

You're basically describing ego, which is what we think we are. If you've ever been in a true fight or flight situation where the survival part of the brain takes over, you quickly realize that the ego (I guess what OP would think of as the top layer of consciousness) is not the only one calling the shots.

That's usually what it is, but I was confused why that particular group would even care about downtown zoning regulations in a place like Seattle. 🤷

14-16 years

Is that how old the cat is? If so, it's probably arthritis. Mine is about that age and has problems squatting. It could be that she has trouble getting in and out of the box, or she's inside but standing too close to the edge and not squatting enough. You could try a supplement or ask your vet. Mine offers monthly injections for arthritis.

Ha, they're hoping they can stop the open heroin use by having construction projects take over all the sidewalks... yeah, sure, that'll work. But seriously, what kind of source is this? Stop population decline? "Seattle loosen"??

In this case, support is referring to technical support, as in "questions about how to use lemmy." Asklemmy will remove any questions about how to use the site.

If you tell a job you have savings, they're going to think you'll just leave the job whenever you want. They don't want that. They want dependable workers, as in, the workers depend on the job to live.

I think the meme format is confusing. It looks like murderers are trying to stop landlords from going after people who use the term... or both murderers and landlords are afraid of people who use the term? Idk, I had to read the comments to understand what you meant.

Anyone can build off-grid if they want to, as long as they purchase their land and pay property tax. OP admitted to being mostly libertarian, so I think they're really just complaining about taxes. I personally think libertarianism is a slippery slope to anarchism, because taxes are what pay for roads, police, firefighters, etc.

Their whole stance is bizarre. It would be like if I believed every country should be democratic, but if any non-democratic foreigner asked me about it I said, "well I'm not going to even talk to you until you've read every bit of democratic theory, and even if you do, I'm not going to admit or discuss any criticism of democracy. Also, you are evil for just being born in your evil country." They can't possibly expect to convert anyone that way.
