And I came!
What do you want us to do? Suck your Dick?
I mean I am down.
It is not official but it is from someone who you can trust. Well, depends on what you mean by trust.
Responsiveness. This is relevant to me because I have older hardware. PopOS was a hard no for me because even its installer was laggy on my system. Once installed, it was okay but worse than others.
App compatibility. I know that all distros can run anything but the ease of it is different. For example, Lutris did not open successfully in Debian but it opened easily with all others.
Flatpak support. Again, all distros are compatible but for some reason Debian gives error while downloading Cisco packages. I have never seen it with anything else.
App Store. It is a good idea if there is ability to browse system as well as flatpak packages in a store. This is not an absolute necessity but nice to have.
Desktop environment. This is probably the most subjective and irrational criteria. Some distros just click, like Mint Cinnamon. And some others just don’t, like Gnome. I can install any DE on any distro but I prefer the out of the box versions.
Popularity. This is very counter intuitive since distro choice is personal but I am not a techie who can verify code on my own. So it is best if an existing community does it for me.
If you do not have physical access, it is not yours. Trust absolutely no one.
Isn’t AUR risky, especially for something like Signal?
I have been on Mint for so long. I am bored of it. I went to CachyOS, liked it but bailed for some reason. Since yesterday, I have tried Debian, PopOS, Garuda and now I am going back to CachyOS.
Is there a way to run signal on CachyOS or Arch in general?
Bazzite steam version does not support my hardware, so I skipped it. I have yet to try Nobara.
Distro hopping. I have installed 4 distros in the last 24 hours. I am going insane but I cannot stop. I am typing this as a new OS is being downloaded.
This is pretty much how I feel while playing souls games. Beating my head against a wall, trying new things and failing each time. Eventually, I will find my dream distro.
Yeah. Cheap labor is so much better than this bullshit
Yes, it is work. It is a skill. Craftsmanship is taking it a step too far.
I hate it because I end up back at Mint. This time I have settled on CachyOS. I am going to give it time to fuck up.
