Good video. I wish the host would add chapters to his videos. 26 minutes is kind of a long video and it would be great if I could skip all the off topic stuff.

Anyway, the title is kind of misleading. It's not really about monetizing as in making a profit. It's about bringing in enough money for the instance admins to cover their costs - for the instance to be self sustaining without the admin paying out of pocket. That doesn't have to involve ads.

So all the people drive-by downvoting just because you see the word monetize. Please stop.

Well, I can't say firsthand, but just do a search for "gay-for-pay pornstars".

Plenty of gay porn stars aren't gay, so there's that.

Looks amazing! This would be a hit over on !ramen@lemmy.world.

Damn that's true. I guess the only real solution is to break it up. Probably have a bigger impact than breaking up Standard Oil.

I own this on paperback, but haven't read it yet. I've read The Time Ships(Stephen Baxter's sequel) twice, but still haven't gotten around to the OG. Shame on me.

Let's face it, Nvidia doesn't care if you buy a gaming card or not right now. You can complain, but they can't hear you over their money counting machines.

Nvidia is only selling enough gaming cards to keep their market share from falling too low. All the rest of their silicon is allocated towards data center.

When the market is tanking, that seems like a good time to grab market share. AMD needs to stay the course, keep making affordable GPUs. Nvidia is practically leaving the door open for them.

People buying from scalpers are the problem. Guaranteed they'll be the ones bitching about prices with every new release.

Personally, I don't care if they go to 3 or 4 thousand. I'm not buying until they come down to MSRP.

That's my hope for it, like people target for the "IBM" PC platform, but IBM got out of the business years ago. It's better and more stable since they left.

Lol, my bad. I didn't pick up on the satire in your comment. I guess I knew posting about Linux would be a shitstorm and I was mentally prepared for the worst.

I still have a CD somewhere with all the nude mods I'd collected. You gotta archive the important things.
