Australia and PNG are set to begin negotiations on a new defence treaty that would see Papua New Guineans serve in the ADF.

PNG officials say Australia has indicated it needs thousands of Papua New Guineans to join the ADF to help address recruitment issues.

British fighter jets joined their US counterparts in airstrikes against Yemen’s Houthi rebels overnight, the first military action authorised by the Labour government and the first UK participation in an aggressive American bombing campaign against the group.

"As far as I understand, the bodies of the fallen soldiers were cremated on site in Russia’s Kursk Oblast before being transported back to North Korea," Lee Seong-kweun said.

The Israeli daily Haaretz reported on Wednesday that its analysis of the IDF’s own materials collected as part of an internal investigation into the incident contradicted the army’s claim that soldiers did not shoot indiscriminately at Palestinian ambulances and a fire engine in the early hours of 23 March.

Instead, Haaretz said, soldiers fired continuously at the vehicles for three and a half minutes from close range despite the aid workers’ attempts to identify themselves.

A masked fighter filmed himself parading around the ransacked home, singing “ethnic cleansing, ethnic cleansing” and posted the video to his Facebook page for 28,000 followers to see. Family members hiding in the upper floor told CNN they heard the raid, including the executions, unfold.
