But also, there is far less training data to mix and match responses from, so naively I would expect a higher plagiarism rate, by its very nature.

Less than 2% of the world's population has a doctorate. According to the US Census Bureau, only 1.2% of the US population has a PhD.

I suspect it would be the duration between one tax collector visit and the next.

The problem is that "time off" isn't the problem - it's that even if you worked yourself to the very bone (and they did), it is never enough to feed the insatiable appetites of the rich. Who don't even "need" anymore than they already have, so much as they just want to thrust their "authority" into the faces of the Poors.

Plus all the other middle managers in-between the top and all the way to the bottom. See e.g. prima nocta, which actually may not have been a thing, in the sense that it wasn't just the "first night" that a lord could do it - I believe that only lords had any "rights" of any kind, at all, ever, so if a lord ever did that (caveat: to one of his OWN peasants), the victim would not have any legal recourse to fall back upon.

But crops and animals may not need as much tender care EVERY day, so even peasants got holidays off sometimes, which helped keep the workforce compliant and healthier to be able to provide more goods & services to the wealthy.

Oh I should have added a /s I guess - gVim is really old, and while I literally do use it (DAILY) and also legit DO think that it is great, I am not really advocating for it. I have heard great things about Sublime, but even that is dated and apparently neovim is much more highly regarded. Anyway, thanks for pointing that out!:-)

This does seem the most likely explanation. But... my instance seems to be aware of the deletion at least, and yet still chooses to show it. It could show the old message, it could remove it entirely and show no notification, it could get fancy and show nothing by default but then upon requesting addition information show it anyway... but out of all the various possibilities, it chooses the single most annoying one? 😜

Yeah, gVim is pretty great, isn't it? :-P

We can go lower.

B-b-but let's not go THAT low!? :-(

B-b-but it clearly says right there in the todo, that's good enough, r-r-right?!

Supposedly - and keep in mind I have no idea if this was ever true - there used to be "statesmen" who after living a long life of prosperity and success, would go and take their turn in Congress helping provide leadership for the nation as a whole.

These people were already retired, already rich, and just looking to see what they could give back to society. Or maybe they were bored and just wanted to get far away from their wives, who knows.:-D Probably they were doing it for the fame, who even cares.

Compare that nowadays though to the likes of MTG or Bohbert or Gaetz and such, whose sole goal in life seems to be to get theirs, and are willing and able to fuck over the entire country in the process.

No, they may do some things like us - eat and sleep and breathe - but it takes a special kind of dipshittery to be willing to turn a blind eye to people in need (like in Ukraine) and sell out your entire nation (inflation, Russian and Chinese aggression, etc.) in that manner. I can only hope that you wouldn't allow people in your own country to starve to literal death bc of your actions.

They are playing power games, and they'd probably still play those even if their salaries were at stake too, more's the pity:-(.

I also see deleted comments, I guess by the user. Which is odd, bc like if they wanted to remove it that's their choice I suppose, but Lemmy still shows me reply notifications, but then when I go to read it, it's gone!?

Wait'll OP finds out the conspiracy theory, held by scientists around the world, that IT IS NOT! :-P
