No way, white hat guy is not bothering (e.g. whistling at) her, just appreciating what she chose to show off. Maybe he was even looking in that exact direction before she wandered into his field of view, and here he's all surprised like "what's this now!?"

Also, that's an extremely odd direction for the lady to be walking from, perpendicular to the sidewalk - did she just finish jaywalking? If so then she passed by quite close to him, to avoid the fire hydrant, at which point he should be expected to look to see who it was.

This comic does not convey the appropriate information to justify what looks like a purely random act of violence by a self-righteous male Karen trying to pound the world vigorously into submission according to his ideals. Nor does it show an offer to the other guy to change or even admit fault, just the result of the pounding. It glorifies violence and premature judgement.

Part of it I think is that different places in the world have varying expectations. As do different age groups. You could be talking with a 90 year old liberal woman from New York City who has been on Lemmy for years, or a 16 year old neo-nazi boy from Bangladesh where today is their first experience on any social media site ever. And then one of those two will downvote you, one will upvote you, and you are forbidden to ever know which is which (bc Lemmy does not show that information, despite it theoretically being public).

The downvote relationship is thereby inherently unequal since they know (a little about) who they chose to downvote, while you have no clue who downvoted you and can only guess at the reason(s) why. Which makes this place on social media capricious and unwelcoming, as people sling those around without bothering to offer an explanation. Kudos to helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world then for offering one possibility.:-)

If you recognize something about yourself that you do not like, then you have a wonderful opportunity in front of you to change that thing, whatever it is!

Bonus: it is actually possible to do that, whereas trying to change the entire world is an enormously difficult task that is guaranteed to be quite frustrating.

But it will take effort, and time, and I wish you the absolute best of luck! Try to find some irl people that can be there to encourage you on the path.

I wonder if it was on purpose even? I have zero evidence of such, just wondering...

Yeah, rather than offer your comment the benefit of the doubt people immediately jumped on the downvote train - that's how you know this is ~~Reddit~~ Lemmy!

You could try adding a /s to see if that helps?

This is what the original founders of the United States of America believed, but that did not last long.

Separately, ignorance is different than obstinacy - the former is easily curable but I have never heard of anything ever that can possibly cure the latter.

Anyway, you could have the most amazing endgame chess move ever planned out, but if you can't get to it then it's useless. The Republicans are winning so much lately bc they are playing the game as it is, not as they wish it could be in some fantasy scenario. If we want to beat them then it will take equal effort than they have put in for decades while liberals seem to have simply gone to sleep.

At which point I am proud to see someone asking questions in order to educate themselves:-).

Most asses don't do a whole lot of science.

Not none, mind you (unfortunately)...

Correction: some of them truly know why. However, they are trying to see what they can get away with, like a toddler testing their boundaries ("but why can't I have dessert instead of dinner!?"). It is our fault if we fall prey to their BS.

The only thing required for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing.
