you may lose tru-tone capabilities if you replace screen yourself or go third party. aapl want $500-700$ for oem screen replacement. For that price ~$1400 you could find a sale item with 16gb ram (new)

though I cannot speak to the apps you use.. the max can connect four monitors whereas the pro only two (one for base). one more thing to consider, some of the fancy features on os sonoma are not supported natively on m1s
