Bestimmt genauso DSGVO-konform wie die Cookie-Politik von Heise

Do you ever change proton version of games if they run for performance reasons, or do you just stick to the default config?

For example, let's say a game is about a year old, so it would run on an early proton 9. Might changing to GE 10-8 improve performance and battery runtime / FPS?

I started thinking about this when I gave a shot to Wuthering Waves. It runs out of the box, but GPU is a little bit less under pressure with GE 10-8.

What's your take?

That looks weird. I'd love to see it live.

I don't understand the business model. It's single player but gacha?

Eine richtige, wenn auch nicht notwendige, Korrektur.

Does it run on Steam Deck? Anyone?

Ja aber... wäre... dann nicht alles, irgendwie, besser? 😅

Looking for discord servers with good vibes, anything around cozy, coop, wholesome gaming.

I'm open for any suggestions. Been trying to look via the discord server search services, but that's rather painful, honestly.

English / German

I installed Garuda Dr460nized on a Surface Pro 5. WiFi drivers were missing, but manual install from USB helped.

However, performance is a nightmare. Sound stutters, even Steam itself doesn't run well.

Any ideas? I know people run games like Left 4 Dead on Windows on these systems.

I'm absolutely new to Arch, and haven't touched Linux in years. However, I was able to confirm the iGPU is detected and a driver is installed.

Being sensitive to both, this confirms what I experienced after having it since launch.

Only thing that happens is that I get a black screen. Not sure what's happening, no error, nothing.

Disabled secure boot and stuff in UEFI.

Any suggestions? I feel stupid.

Edit: I'll leave it here for whomever might come next: use Ventoy to create the USB, not Rufus, and then boot in grub2 option. It's installing now, at least. Let's see...

Some video games have been trying to use generative AI for years now, and for the most part people simply have not been having it. Why would we? It's lazy, it's ugly, it's an ethical black hole and it's being driven by an executive class desperate to lay off even more workers. While earlier and more brazen attempts at employing the tech were obvious, lately it's becoming more common for studios to slide a little AI-generated content in without drawing attention to it.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 launched with some AI-generated character portraits, then got bullied into removing them. Clair Obscur, which will be a lot of people's game of the year, appeared to quietly launch with some AI-generated art then just as quietly patch it out. I was going to review the city-building grand strategy game Kaiserpunk until I saw they were using AI-generated images for their dialogue sections, after which I promptly uninstalled it.

The latest culprit is The Alters, which has found to have shipped not only with AI-generated placeholder text in-game, but also employed AI-generated translations in some of its side content as well. None of this was disclosed prior to the game's release; it was all discovered later, by players, and has prompted an explanation of sorts from the developers which tries to calm everyone down, but which has just made things worse, because if it took people discovering these specific instances to find that 11 Bit had used AI-generated content in the game's development, how do we know there's not more of it?

Reposted something, am getting notifications on the bottom bar for every reply. How can I deactivate that for that post only?

Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for an option to play 3DS games on a Steam Deck.

I'm using RetroArch for SNES and N64, but I'm lacking a core for 3DS. Guides I found online are all pointing to dead or old sources.

Any suggestions or ideas? Ideally something that integrates with RetroArch (not a must tho)?

I am not very familiar with how stuff works under Linux, so I'd need a bit of hand holding unfortunately.

Thanks in advance!

I'm looking for an easy to use, light weight app to connect to my local SMB share (via username and password).

Any suggestions?

The "big" ones either cost or are shit.

UPDATE: thanks everyone for your suggestions! I'll give the apps a shot and will report back. This will take me some time tho - bear with me!

EDIT: question answered in commented links. Keeping it here for record keeping.

I saw that this user is constantly reposting from other instances, it's basically all they do.

I could just block them, but I was wondering

  • is this maybe just a bot?
  • is it against the rules?

Ideally, they'd crosspost instead of repost. And I think this is against the very idea of the instance federation.

It's really more a question than a call for action.
