@Pog_Susser_Tod@hexbear.net I just caught up on the audiobooks of the Locked Tomb series, I think it is literally all I've ever wanted from like modern fantasy. It's funny without being (for the most part) too quippy or completely undermining the serious parts (most of them anyways, and when it does I think it gets away with it). It's emotional and dramatic without it ever fully crushing your soul, and kind of grim without being misanthropic or particularly cruel. Really enjoyed it, because it's emotionally fraying but not without the hope of things getting better.

Extremely upset because the GL Chinese web novel that I was already starting to dislike because it had some pretty fucked up dynamics to it suddenly came to a stop because the fan translators suddenly decided to no longer just put the text on their website and instead now redirects readers to some phishing ad site to get to the next chapter. They have a lot of projects too, so now there's going to be stuff I either don't read, find some MTL just by searching, or fucking buckling and going through their anti-user gauntlet.

Calling you out, Loving Baihe.

Oh yeah, I can definitely see that now. Seeing damage as a large range is definitely a demerit, I would much rather have a narrower range of damage like the newer XCOMs (which I also play on easier difficulties, so my experiences are definitely more on the casual side) as a random example. Every enemy can be examined, which tells you at least their elemental and damage type resistances, but no one is doing every time and class mechanics are weird if you don't know the system (D&D) which I only somewhat do. And there's stuff I remember from the tabletop that I felt weren't explained intuitively like proficiencies and attribute bonuses to damage and hit chances, and of course fucking advantage and disadvantage.

Long story short, I can definitely see how BG3 can rely on D&D knowledge to an annoying degree, if you keep to it I would suggest using examine to help out.

You can see all the rolls in the combat logs on the right. I think there's still some hidden stuff with enemy AC? I don't remember and I'm away from my PC for now.

Can you go into detail about what you dislike about it? I play on the easiest difficulty, and am pretty indifferent towards it, so I'm curious about what about it can cause so much frustration. (I'm not a huge fan of actual tabletop D&D combat, I will say though.) Just the general AC system?

3gatsu no Lion is my all time fave, just some deeply empathic storytelling with the Shaft aesthetic while also not being problematic like the Monogatari Series nor being about magical girls.

Yeah honestly it's probably fine, I just would be cautious of context so it can't be misunderstood. The original comment is fine as it is about tanks, but saying something like "I hope every IOF gets 🔻" can be misconstrued by people ignorant like me but don't have some of the context and just Google it.

While the video game style marker is funny, looking up "inverted red triangle meaning" makes me not want to use it as a meme too much.
