Do you prefer the Switzerland bureaucracy than ours?

Also, not sure how that helped them with…

/Check notes on the Switzerland wars./

Afghanistan war.

Modern militaries are on a different level than “A well regulated Militia” or whatever other 2A BS this is.

.22 will be useless and they start shelling us.

I feel like anyone LARPing or dreaming with military campaign would be better served by practicing with RC planes and drones, tanking cool pictures, breathtaking videos, or just doing cool aerial tricks.

How did you get all that from the article? It was very short, am I missing something?

The only thing I read there is "person is running for this riding with this party".

Sorry, I don't follow, care to explain, please.

Wasn't the equipment and training they got to resist many invasions over the century, always from external groups? As far as I know, Afghani gun laws are very restrictive and bureaucratic.

Liberal majority with 61.4%

With this, the prospect of electoral reform seems bleak.

But it looks better than the alternative with 1% chance.

The citynew article is terrible, the university release explains things better, including highlighting the problems with the livestock industry they are trying to solve (also with the mining industry).

Who paid for this research? The cattle association?

The single cell protein (SCP) research is very old. In this specific case, it was https://www.cvictus.com/ that asked U of A to check if they could create protein with their hydrogen.

Helping the environment means ending the livestock industry and moving to a varied plant-based diet.

Humans consume a lot of SCP, people might be more comfortable with algae and fungi based, but it is not that uncommon to check the ingredient lists and see some "bacillus" in there, or Spirulina if you are into cooking.

Bacteria yield more protein per volume, but sadly, they also can create toxins and might not taste as great as algae and fungi, that also adds to the importance of those kinds of research.

A few papers down the line and these SCP can help us end the need for livestock.

“dried methanol mixed with bacteria protein”

That is not the case.

Ending cruelty is an honourable cause, and also benefits us a lot. But the way you use your words reminded me of those Republicans defunding research and aid because the wording made them uncomfortable.

Yeah, also, this citynews article is terrible. The university post explains it better.

Most of the technology used is old, they are trying to get it approved for use in cattle here in Canada. The benefits they expect are:

  • there is no mining to get the hydrogen from deep coal
  • methanol is now cheaper than in the 1970's (when most of the research on this process was done - SCP is 100 years old I think), making the protein cheaper
  • because of the price, it would be a better alternative to fish based or soy based feed. Less overfishing, and deforestation.

My concerns:

  • the carbon is already well captured underground, they are just bringing it up without blowing up holes.
  • what they will do to keep methanol cheap? There are other ways to get methanol, and one of them is deforestation.
  • they also mention using the oil to get those hydrogens.
  • "The leftover carbon is then captured and sequestered back underground.” I am not sure how they will keep that protein cheap if they account for the prices of that. Maybe it is cheaper than conventional ways since they are doing in well contained areas, and not busting smoke out of a car exhaust.

This citynews article is poorly written, you should keep just the university release because it explains properly what happened, why, and the benefits of the method.

These are numbers from 2016. Is there any place where we can read these contracts? Maybe with the current situation, conditions are changing. Hopefully, people put a clause in case of animosity between countries.

Thank you! I thought I would not find there, but most of my Wikipedia searches found result.

I also found this website to confirm https://www.discogs.com/

Oh yes, it is very difficult to ask someone to explain something. It is easier to go from "it is wrong to justify an invasion by fear of nukes" to "all foreign influence is evil".

I re-read my text a few times, and I could not find anywhere saying that helping a nation build a dam, help with infrastructure or logistics projects, create economic blocs or easing bureaucracy for transit as being evil. Nice gymnastics over there to spill your warmongering propaganda.

Matrix is my favourite, and easy to use, you just need to pick a client that supports it https://matrix.org/ecosystem/clients/ (Element is the most common) and create an account. You can also self-host if you want more privacy/control.

Signal has a desktop client, but sadly, it still needs a phone to work.

I also use Steam chat for playing.

A more direct alternative would be

  • Discord -> Revolt
  • Teamspeak -> Mumble
