What's wrong with Cloudflare? This one in particular would just be their caching service, our host remains our own, and the primary reason for tunneling through that would be levraging this anti CSAM tool. Because as it stands that's our only reasonable (and free) option to detect it and automatically block it. Don't wanna end up behind bars just because you unknowingly had it on your sever.

Nah I didn't say that it's bad lol. Didn't mean it that way, at least. The way I understand the "fuck, marry, kill" game is that:

  • Fuck: down to play with it every once in a while
  • Marry: always down to use it
  • Kill: never want to use it

but if someone else wants to play with Rust who am I to stop them

As Atalocke said, there's a Cloduflare tool that automatically scans every image on your site and blocks them if it finds any flagged content. That would solve most of our issues. Access to it requires approval from the US agency that handles this type of problems, though, so it might take a while.

I love this LMAO. I'd take notes if only my campaigns ever got that far (they never do).

Not bad, but Michael Reeves got there 5 years ago

TIL. Never really cared about the legal aspect of FOSS for anything other than slapping a GPL license next to anything I write but that is an interesting fact.

There's plenty of applications that aren't critical enough to require precise memory management and where a GC is a worthy tradeoff for the simplicity that Go brings to the table, but sure, if you are interested in going super low level that's what you are left to work with.

And it's probably fine. If I had to pick between C++ and Rust I would choose the latter any day of the week but thankfully not every developer has to go that low.

Isn't ActivityPub just an application protocol? To my knowledge there's no ActivityPub inc. licensing the usage of the protocol or anything like that. A web protocol is just a series of guidelines everyone has agreed on following, you can't attach terms and conditions to it.

I was under the impression that the Go compiler was written in C/C++, though don't quote me on this one. My browser however is Firefox, so touché on that one.

So all the claims that made it to the news weren't backed up by a single corpse? Well this is a nice twist to the story. Seeing the crazy reaction the public had (see pictures in the article) one would have expected them to at least have a shred of evidence.

I guess these days you don't even need to back up your claims when you say: "Catholic Church bad", people automatically just assume what you are saying is correct.
