Look I know you probably don't want to hear this, but in the 2-party system of the US the best way to make space for a proper left party is to mainstream the centrist party and fully marginalize the right. The way things are now there's no air in the room for anyone left of the Democrats. The Overton window has to be shifted back to the left for that to happen.

I think you're correct, but I also think it doesn't matter because you can't get everything you want all at once. Voters need to make it clear that they're not interested in what the right has to offer. That will create space for competing offers.

I also think that what is actually happening right now is a lot more important than what might happen.

Looks like something from Annihilation:

InControl (previously "Never10") created by Steve Gibson is a utility that allows you to set and freeze the major update & feature version of your Windows install. It maintains the system in its current form but still allows security updates.

Note that InControl will hold your Windows right where it is, even after the current version and feature release has gone out of support. You will see a complaint about the current version of Windows requiring an update. But your system will not be updated while you are InControl.

I'm pretty confident that selling bonds is not the only mechanism by which the government has access to money.

No, of course the government has other sources of revenue. That's not what I said.

Bonds are the mechanism by which the government issues new money. They cannot "print money" without selling the equivalent value in bonds.

Roblox didn't just "make it easy", it's their entire business model, which is the problem. Watch the videos. The discussion isn't about how much of a percentage Roblox takes, it's about how kids basically get pressured to work in digital sweatshops to create the content which is what Roblox sells.

The government cannot "simply print money". In order to add new currency, the government sells bonds to the reserve banks. Future debt is exchanged for money to spend now. If the banks do not loan money to the government by buying the bonds, new money cannot be printed.

The accumulated bond debt is the national debt.

Tax income is used to make payments on the national debt (to pay off bonds which have reached their maturity period). You can also participate in this system by purchasing government bonds, it is not exclusive to banks.

If the government fails to make payment on the bond debt, then the government's credibility drops and banks may choose not to buy new bonds, which immediately devalues the currency.

Functionally, the value of currency is based on faith that the government issuing the currency is solvent and will be able to make payments on its bonds in the future. Tax income is necessary to ensure that the government is solvent.

None of that has anything to do with Trump's asinine tariffs, of course.

No one should patronize Roblox. They exploit child labor for profit:

When you hear "Roblox" you should think "child exploitation".
