I know, I did try playing them with dosbox years later but I didn't know anyone that had them to borrow the discs so I hadn't played them back in the day like all the ones I named.
The era of SCUMM. Point and click adventures were awesome. Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Leisure Suit Larry, Quest for Glory series, Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis.
I spend from grade 9 to 12 working in the school kitchen, it was the chef training program. I was sous chef for the last two years then in grade 12, I spent some time in actual restaurants and changed my mind about getting into culinary arts as a career.
The guys were working 10-12 hours then sleeping in the store room beczuse they were too drunk to drive and get back for the morning shift. They were all drinking too much and chain smoking, it wasn't an industry I wanted to work in. Instead I spent 19 years in food logistics which paid way better. The hours still sucked though.
That's a kids before/during/after school job, it isn't for adults anymore.
Especially if you don't know what exactly to search on Google, a day later the things people are saying might be abstract of the thing that is happening so you don't know what is the right thing to search for.

Of course they are getting smarter, he died of a superbug infection likely contracted in a hospital when he was in for pneumonia treatment.
They can't breath properly when turned upside down. Try to keep them upright if you encounter them again. If you have a box or reusable shopping bag if they are obviously injured and need to be transported somewhere for medical attention. If the box is big enough they should be able to right themselves back up.
When doing turtle recoveries we had a Rubbermaid tote with a lid which had holes cut in it.
