I usually intend to...

But I also usually intend to wake up a half hour early to do yoga before getting ready for work which has happened... Well... I really considered it one morning.

Not be a killjoy but it really seems like a lot of folks here and the meme's "me" are assuming facing thoughts equal thoughts.

Here's Wikipedia/ therapist's description of racing thoughts, the normal amount of which should definitely be close to zero:

Racing thoughts may be experienced as background, _or may take over a person's consciousness. _Thoughts, music, and voices might be zooming through one's mind as they jump tangentially from one to the next.[citation needed] There also might be a repetitive pattern of voice or of pressure without any associated "sound". It is a very overwhelming and irritating feeling, and can result in losing track of time. In some cases, it may also be frightening to the person experiencing it, as there is a loss of control. If one is experiencing these thoughts at night when going to sleep, they may suddenly awaken, startled and confused by the very random and sudden nature of the thoughts.

Edit: for comparison, I feel most of us are picturing thinking, my favourite explanation of which is:

Ricky: Do you ever get your head where it just won't shut up and it's talking to itself, 'yap yap yap'. F***! What is that?

Bubbles: Thinkin', Ricky. You're thinkin'!

Ricky: That's all that is?

That's actually probably impressive.

In 2013, instagram hit 100 million monthly users (and now has 20x that, unsure about geographic distribution but...). I personally assume cyber stalking and mass online social media adoption are reasonably correlated.

Rough thesis? Back in the day, higher proportion of people were cyber stalked. Many more people went publicly online, more people stalked but as a percentage of those online, probably less than the apparently brave trail blazers.

I dunno, even if we check in first, doesn't anyone else have any effectively semi standing "see you there" meets? (Like, where if someone wasn't going to be there, they'd probably text you.)

Pre texting, I suppose the alternative was either make plans each and every time by calling a few people or, a standing arrangement, like coffee wherever, call me if you can't make it otherwise I'll see you there.

I think one of the most impressive pieces of comedy was in a random Jackass sketch.

Mall boxing, Knoxville squares off against a one time super heavyweight champion, Butterbean. Butterbean laughs, lets Knoxville take a free shot then proceeds to one punch Knoxville unconscious. Paramedics come and as they're attending to Knoxville he comes to, looks around and immediately asks "Is Butterbean okay?"

I die every time. The wherewithal to come out from an almost certain concussion with such a ludicrous assertion/question, just goddamnit, it's perfect.

Every morning...

The frustrating part is we worked this out years ago, after bedtime scritches, she wasn't allowed back on the bed until the alarm.

Now she's old, sick and I'm worried any day might be her last. But she seems to know this and takes full advantage. I've woken up with her either purring into my face, sitting on my hip or screaming to announce it's morning.

I mean, apart from millenials outnumbering boomers, and the fact that Gen X + millenials would outnumber them more than 2:1, uhhh, sure?

[–] MyBrainHurts@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

I mean, you realize people tend to die as they age, right?

The largest age cohort in America are millenials, not boomers.

But, Boomers outvote millenials by a silly margin. Silly takes like "there are more boomers" probably don't help.

I think you meant to respond to someone else, none of that seemed like a response to what I wrote.

Hell, the older I get the more I think the voting age should be raised. And after talking politics with some of the youngins (20s) on my various teams, I propose somewhere in the 30s.

I'm joking but...

Seriously, so goddamn creepy. You know the two of them called their underage girls mysteries/riddles/etc.

I saw a post on an asylum offer which is related but this peace broker offer cracked me up, figured I'd share. Sorry if it's too similar to the other one!
