Social systems aren't all or nothing. Government run health care: socialist/communist. Government regulating businesses: socialist. Enabling competition among businesses: capitalist.
Engels and Marx believed an all-in approach was best, but even they believed in the value of incremental improvement. We don't have to implement an entirely pure socialist government before we can say we've adopted any socialist ideas at all.
I believe the post is specifically about long eyelashes, fake eyelashes.
That said, my wife has worn makeup twice in 18 years. I love her for being herself, but I complimented her on how nice she looked those two times her sister did her makeup because I'm not a complete jerk and have some idea of how to be kind when someone has spent an hour trying to look nice. I also attempted to make it clear that I preferred her without makeup, maybe something along the lines of, "I love how naturally beautiful you are."
Just because some women consider men to be ignorant doesn't mean we are.
It's written incorrectly. "Only some men are sad. Don't treat all men as though they're sad." How insightful and almost converse of the point, which is, "Gender doesn't determine sensitivity or need."
Yes, it's his fault for not doing this thing. We've incorporated the message.
Marx's definition of socialism is unhelpful, has been detrimental, should be ignored. He did advocate for socialism, but in a specific way. He saw socialism as a step towards communism. Marx believed that after a workers' revolution, society would first enter a socialist phase where the workers control the government and economy. Then, eventually, this would lead to communism, where there would be no need for a state and everyone would share everything equally.
The United States regulates businesses, provides welfare. Those are socialist ideas. China, controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, has rich and poor people. It isn't communist.
Tik-Tok's only problem is capitalism. /s
I'd bet I'm not the first person to write that sentence on Lemmy, Hexbear and elsewhere. The problem is right here and everywhere.
I'm a really great person. I'm good at everything. My friends are all tools and won't ever be as amazing as me.
Congratulations. I bet those friends are absolutely real.
I haven't been in a plant where management tells everyone to go crazy and ignore safety because 1. they aren't monsters and 2. lawsuits. They're financially motivated to do the right thing. When I saw the article, my first thought was this person disabled mandatory lockouts because it's convenient.
Why is there so much communist propaganda on Lemmy? Could it be that reddit is actually good at filtering out state-sponsored content farms?
This is why Xi Jinping lives in a giant gilded castle and any negative thing said anywhere about him is censored, just like every other citizen. Everyone's equal.
Fahrenheit measured human body temperature (which he thought was a constant) and called that 96 degrees. We now know normal body temperature is about 98.6 degrees F, but back then, his instruments weren't as accurate. The number 96 was chosen for its divisibility. It has many divisors (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 48, 96), making it easier to mark subdivisions on the thermometer.
It's a scale partly defined by human body temperature, which is, I think, the point.
