Your experience sounds similar to mine.

That talk sounds awkward but necessary. I also recall my mother always stressed that if I was going to have sex to always always make sure the guy was wearing a condom.

You go to uni to study, not spend time with your SO. I honestly don't understand what you're supposed to be gaining from taking a gap year to start together. It should make no difference, unless you are already planning on not keeping your head focused on studying.

To put it in other words: you do you and your bf does whatever he needs to do and you see each other during your spare time. Whether or not you guys are in the same school would hardly make a difference, and if it does then it's at the expense of your studies. Which is not good for anyone.

Also- if you start a year ahead of him you'll be well acquainted with campus by the time your bf joins in. You'll know people. You'll know a few tricks and perks. Now that's useful.
