I'm pretty it's Beaver. I'm now banned (and I appear to be blocked by Beaver as well) and I'm pretty sure the only recent direct interaction I've had with the community was downvoting the recent articles about how vegan diets are okay for carnivorous pets.

Yeah, but c'mon, that's Floridaman. He's a meth head who'd murder someone because he wanted to fuck an alligator and thought he needed a human sacrifice to do it.
if the Lemmy World admins want to use heavy handed tactics on a misunderstood minority community protecting their users
on a misunderstood minority community
You're just really vocal about your diet, you're not a protected minority nor should you be lmao. Trying to equate yourself with being black, LGBT or having some other inherent, immutable property that leads to people getting murdered, raped, beaten, abused, fired, jailed, tortured, sold into slavery or many other things throughout the world, is kinda fucking offensive.
Oh boy, it looks like they're posting the "you should feed your obligate carnivorous pets a fully vegan diet" garbage again.
Edit:
Trying to paint your special diet group as a minority group is kinda fucking offensive. People get murdered, raped, beaten, abused, fired, divorced, jailed, tortured, sent to re-education camps, and so on, for being black, or LGBT, or Hispanic, or Muslim, or whatever. Vegans though? No. Unlike the other examples, vegans don't get murdered for something you were born with; they don't have entire continents who want to murder them. They just get ridiculed, and tbh, nowadays most of the ridicule is due to their garbage attitudes and nothing to do with the diet itself.

Eh, reputation is still a thing and they probably aren't getting to keep any of the IPs they worked on, like Stray or Outer Wilds. They also won't get to keep whatever cash the company might have had in reserve. My understanding is that the idea of spinning off a studio to be indie is that you get to keep developing your IPs to some extent, you still have your brand and your reputation, etc. Otherwise they probably would have done this at the beginning.
So, no, they didn't really spin it off heh.
Correct. I'm not all that invested in social media tbh. If all generalized social media went down (like Twitter, Lemmy, Reddit, Tumblr, but not discord, matrix, mumble, specialty media like enthusiast forums, etc), then it'd take some time for me to find a new place to get news and memes, but that's primarily what I use social media for. News, memes, and occasionally venting into the comment section.
If you're gonna charge for social media, you have to have a pretty good incentive for people to join. Social media is expected to be free. Now, if you had a larger network that didn't just serve social media, but a wide variety of things like cloud storage, webhosting, game server hosting, etc in a walled garden that was designed to allow users to do mostly whatever they want while keeping bots out, now that I might be willing to pay for.
At what point is it just a car pretending to be a bike? You can't take a velomobile inside with you, so you'll need a parking lot. They can't take tight corners like bikes, skateboards, scooters, or other methods of personal transportation.
I am. There are upsides and downsides to it, but tbh I don't really feel particularly compelled to move out right now. I don't even know where I would want to go if I did.
I wonder if there'll be a round two of The Internet Idiots vs The Hedge Fund Dumbasses.
This might be a language barrier thing, but in most english-speaking countries when you use the term "minority" to refer to a group of people, that typically refers to a group who is a minority based on race, sex, ethnicity, gender or some other inherent trait. You might say, "a small community" to refer to a group within a group, but you wouldn't say, "a minority community" for that unless you were trying to imply that the community in question was a racial, ethnic, gender, or other form of minority.
