No, your high. Not my high, yours.

No?

No.

I have observed that, with enough money, doctors can fix just about any problem you have, except for a dead brain. Can't breathe? We'll breathe for you. Can't digest your food? We'll do that for you. Heart won't beat? We even have machines for that. However, if I'm not mistaken, doctors can't restart a brain after it's stopped. That's the one thing that can't be fixed.

That said, if your heart has stopped then you're basically one foot in the grave and will probably die without immediate medical attention (unless you're like the guy I was replying to, where your heart occasionally just takes a break for a moment). As such, it would be apt to describe you as mostly dead. You're not beyond saving, but that's where you're headed.

That description reminded me of Miracle Max's diagnosis of "mostly dead" and so I threw in the gif.

Happy?

Aiming for the moon only works if you don't get discouraged, injured or exhausted along the way.

Tbf, while your heart stopped, you brain didn't. If your brain had totally stopped then you wouldn't be here. Not saying anyone's right or wrong, just pointing out that a stopped heart doesn't mean that you're fully dead....

I read the first as, "Set goals, and don't you [dare] reach [for them]" and the second as "Your high! Stop them ~~until~~". I actually blanked on the last one and had to read it a couple times until I fully processed what it said.

Edit: I don't know why I read the first one right-left, top-bottom and the second top-bottom, left-right.

Afaik David Byrne and Gary Numan both claim to be autistic, though I dunno if they've been formally tested.

David Byrne is the lead singer of Talking Heads. Try watching something like his Stop Making Sense self-interview or True Stories.

I dunno about much about Gary Numan except that he was a pioneer in New Wave and electronic music in general; as well as the frontman for Tubeway Army (check out the album, Replicas).

In my experience, having a vr setup with vive body trackers consumes the 2.4ghz band really fast; so there are still reasons to swap in the suburbs, but they're more niche.

Source: my PC is too far away from the router for wired, so it uses wifi. I had to switch to using 5ghz because my internet would drop out on 2.4ghz whenever I played VRChat.

I was reading your definition as being too specific. Imo enshittification is any time the relative average quality of a class of products or services decreases, either due to increased prices or decreased quality at the same price. This can be applied to a specific product or service, but can also describe a decline in quality across an industry.

Without some serious mental gymnastics, forced stealth sections tend to just be bad design choices. Not every bad thing is the same kind of bad thing.

While I disagree with your comment on the definition of "enshittification", I agree that forced stealth sections are just bad design. I remember those have been a thing for a long time now, and before then it was ice levels.

Copying from a later reply: I was reading their definition as being too specific. Imo enshittification is any time the relative average quality of a class of products or services decreases, either due to increased prices or decreased quality at the same price. This can be applied to a specific product or service, but can also describe a decline in quality across an industry.

Imagine the lifespan you could get from one that's been converted to modern li-ion.

Sorry for the tangent, but it's one plausible explanation for how to prevent AGI from shutting down capitalism--put in an overseer to fetter it.

Nah, it's cool; I go off on tangents myself and tbh, your comment is relevant and something to consider.

Have you read Freefall? It examines a similar situation except it uses the concept of an organic AI (in the form of a genetically engineered anthro canine called Florence) as a bridge between natural, human intelligence and machine AI. It gets deep into the philosophy behind ideas like sentience, consciousness, etc.

I'd recommend starting from the beginning so that you don't miss anything, though admittedly last time I tried to go from start-to-finish I wound up getting too bogged down in the philosophy and didn't make it all the way through. I might try starting again, this time from the last major arc I remember reading though.

I think, possibly, my tired brain at the time thought that you are implying LLM -> AGI.

Ah, okay. I've been there lol. I hope I didn't come off as confrontational, I was very confused and concerned that I had badly explained myself. My apologies if I did.
