God, I didn't understand why people liked that album at first, but it grew on me and now it's one of my favorite albums (I think I like Speaking in Tongues more, but they're both amazing).

It's an album by The Orb called U.F.Orb. It's not my favorite album by any stretch, but I thought the album cover was probably the best for an orb meme. If you wanna check them out, my top 3 albums by them are probably The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld, Orbus Terrarum, and [The Future Academy of Noise, Rhythm and Gardening Presents...] The Dream.

Edit: they're mainly downtempo electronic stuff, like dub, ambient house, etc. Orbus Terrarum is the chillest of the three, followed by Ultraworld and then The Dream. If one song is too slow, try another one or two from the album, and if it's still too chill, try another album.

I'm fully aware, I grew up the the game as well (well, TF2, but it was during the "golden years" of Valve and source-based multiplayer games). That doesn't mean Garry Newman can't send them a copy of the dmca for them to include in their C&D. I honestly want to see Valve do it, regardless of whether the original dmca is legit, because it'd bring a lot of attention to false-dmcas. The reason why I'm not saying that Garry should do it is because, well, the assets are actually Valve's, not Garry's, and I'm not sure if Garry actually has an explicit license to use them and as such, would not be in a position to "fight fire with fire" himself.

Inb4 captial-G Gamers screaming "sweet baby told them to!!1!!1!1 Nintendo is being captured by the WoKe mob!1!1!"

I doubt Nintendo uses their services because I doubt Nintendo really needs them. For all their bullshit, Nintendo has actually had a surprisingly progressive history with their characters.

Birdo was probably one of the first genderqueer characters in video games, and while Birdo was originally described as being odd, their (no idea what their "official" pronouns are anymore, so I'm using they/them) strangeness wasn't really portrayed as a bad thing, so much as a flavor-text, "haha how strange" kinda thing (this was in the 90s, which is why I'm willing to give them credit).

Then you have Vivian, who had some vague hints at being trans (or at least a crossdresser) in the original Japanese TTYD but was removed for the English translation, before having those lines re-added and translated for the HD remake, seemingly confirming that she's trans.

They've had numerous instances where characters have joked or hinted at being gay or bisexual, or have been body positive. One recent example was the Super Mario Wonder commercial where Bowser is trying to woo Peach (~~Daisy? Can't remember which~~ edit: it was indeed Peach) with a flower, but then she eats an elephant fruit, turns into an elephant and gets... well... hefty. The commercial then shows a stunned Bowser, leading you to believe that he's going to be turned off by her sudden weight gain and transformation, but instead he drops his single flower and pulls out a whole bouquet to show he's actually into it. Like, damn, what a statement for commercial for a "kids" game.

Edit: the commercial in particular, for those who haven't seen it: https://youtu.be/ggddehjvt-E

I'd love to see valve return the dmca with a c&d telling them that all the models and character designs use valve's creative property and that they can go fuck themselves.

Yeah, it was part of the happy home paradise update. I don't think you need the dlc, I think they're part of the base game.

/uj he's a twitch streamer who is very... weird? Like, he just tends to phrase things in a weird way, and his community loves to blow it way out of proportion by accusing him of being a psychopath, an alien, a robot, an eldritch extradimensional being from the void, etc.

Best way I've heard someone put it is that a chat member could accuse Jerma of having fake eyebrows, and Jerma would try to claim his eyebrows are real but do such a bad job of it that he makes you believe his eyebrows are actually fake.

/rj no, you have it correct. Jerma is honestly kinda eldritch and inexplicable. He just arrived and he been here ever since. He doesn't even try to hide it anymore, here's an example of him adjusting his face during a stream:

Oh man, they get absolutely pissed if you hit them +3 times with an axe or net, which is way easier to do by accident than you'd want; if you hit a villager once, the game seems to assume that you want to hit them again, so attempting to interact just results in you pummeling/slashing the villager. I've had them tell me I don't deserve friends, that I'm a freak, that I'm a horrible creature who shouldn't be around people, etc...

Even if you don't accidentally or intentionally piss them off, they can be very rude and condescending when you first start playing. They chill out after you start interacting with them (and you have to interact if you want them to treat you nicer), but it can take weeks for them to start doing that. That's what I love about the GameCube animal crossing; the villagers aren't tripping over themselves to make you happy. In New Horizons, villagers basically exist to make you happy and feel better about yourself; however, they make it very clear they don't like you at first in the original.

(Also yes, you can hit villagers with an axe in the OG game and they have a slightly different reaction to it. It's hard to do though and would seem like a bug if it weren't for the fact that they react differently to it)

If New Horizons was your first animal crossing game and you were disappointed by the lack of personality that the villagers had, go play the original AC. Almost no customization options outside of your house interior, but the villagers have way, way, waaaay more personality. Not really surprising since, iirc the series was originally supposed to be focused on your interactions with the villagers.

Jerma is such a sweet and wholesome streamer. The other day one guy in chat asked Jeremy if he liked eating human food. He said, "eating human food? More like, eating humans for food OMEGALUL" and then made this face before consuming a random chat member through the screen. It was such a wonderful thing to see a chat member become one with their favorite streamer.
