My DND party has two tanks - the paladin (me) and the barbarian. But the barbarians con mod is only +1, so at level 7 they only have like 50 max hp on a d12 hit die, while I have a +4 so my paladin has 78 hp.

This is only relevant because I want my backup character to be a rogue in case of death, but everyone else's backup character is a caster, so if my paladin dies the whole team becomes a lot less tanky.

I have to wonder if he even likes ice cream or if his handlers just picked up on it as a quirky relatable trait that will make the kids like him, and now they keep feeding him ice cream

"The first word I could ever read was free" sounds like an insane opener to a novel about some kind of revolutionary hero. Hopefully it shall not be a novel but an autobiography

I've been studying the medieval philosopher Eriugena lately, who puts Christianity in a pantheistic context that honestly makes it much more interesting to me. He rejects any kind of personification of god, because that's trying to apply human understanding to god, and god is obviously way beyond that. And like, that should be pretty obvious, but growing up Catholic, everyone seemed to believe that God was just some all powerful dude, who would judge you based on human values. Eriugena's god is creation and existence and everything which can and cannot be understood, not some guy you have to please in order to avoid going to hell, and that just makes way more sense than me.

I still don't believe in god or fully agree with Eriugena, because he's very adamant that humans are at the top of the hierarchy in God's world and Jesus was actually an aspect of God. Which seems narcissistic to me, because why would God, who loves all equally, create a kind of "chosen people" in the human race? Why would he create Jesus as a human? If Jesus was a human so that he could communicate to humans the word of God, then that implies that humans are the ones either most needing of God or most worthy of God, and either way, it makes humans the most important beings in the world. Why was Jesus not a pig or a shrew?

Seriously, I really struggle to read academic texts at all, and it doesn't help when I have five other modules to read for as well

My professor gave out to our class in the last lecture for not doing the reading.

Motherfucker the reading is over 1000 pages for a philosopher that we're only spending four weeks on, obviously no one is reading all that

I'm like 99% sure the woman behind me on the train is masturbating but honestly I got bigger things to worry about. Like posting, for example
