Well, this is exactly what mathematicians do.

Be careful not to assign a “patent troll” label to everyone defending their patent portfolio. Where do you mark the line?

There is a Nokia branch called Nokia Technologies. They invest money in R&D, they file for genuine patents involving new technology, for instance in audio and video compression. (They want to sue Netflix or already sued). Them defending themselves against patent abuse is how they earn money. And they go against other big corps. This is vastly different than your typical patent troll.

I hate this too. But - what if we start using this ability to our advantage, just like these guys did? Corps use it, let’s also abuse it so they can’t destroy us without also waiving their rights. LLCs are the privacy abstraction layer of the real world. I figured that even registering your own personal domain is much safer when done through your own LLC than on your personal name. The examples are many.

recommended doses for drugs are based on assuming "a woman is a small man"

That’s especially true for contraception pills.

Why not come back? :D

Shit, I watched a Polish movie with exactly this theme

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2627146/

Highly recommend

This hits so much.

Signed - married parent of two kids below 3 y.o.

If all of them were subject to Alaska Airlines’ WiFi equipment installation post-sale, which required unbolting the door plugs, then all of them have to be rechecked and rebooted. This you won’t hear from them :)

But mah profits!

737 Max is still a developing example of what happens when you leave corporate to self-regulate themselves.

Then I don’t know why, but I am sure over 30% of heat in my house escapes through the roof.

Yeah I lived in flats before, it’s a totally different story, unless your flat is on the last floor or on the corner there is not much heat loss assuming your neighbors also use the heating.
