I'd argue phones are actually better pocket books. Assuming looking at a screen does not bother you:

  • it's much more compact, can be held in one hand and you can carry multiple 800 page books. I've never actually seen a pocket book that can fit in a pocket.
  • you can adjust font, text size and brightness (some font choices in printed books are just terrible)
  • does not need an external light source
  • you can quickly look up words and take notes without needing external items

Requiring a battery is a downside but most reading apps consume very little power compared to other apps.

On a similar note, action cameras, which can be even more portable than a smartphone.

Maybe the Disney/Pixar stories that are not based on Grimm's tales? Do we still tell fairy tales to children though? The only ones I remember from my childhood are Aesop's Fables told by my grandma, which are even older.

Funnily enough in Mexico it's still called Gulf of Mexico, no brackets or anything. I'm wondering if that's the only place where it didn't change.

Pero de narración 10/10

The feline, likely of mixed heritage, appears content. Its estimated income is negligible, given its feral status. One can assume a belief in animism. [...] The cat exudes a sense of self-sufficiency, indifferent to the human world.

I was actually wondering if you're the same southsamurai from there. Your comments were always super detailed and informative. I also haven't visited the sub in a while but it did have a culture of low/more chaotic moderation which I guess attracted similar users. Maybe we could do without that here.

r/morbidquestions. I don't think it's coming here any time soon as it's a moderation hell and lemmy doesn't seem very into morbid stuff.

Huh true, I'll have to check again see if it works with the usual programs (it probably does)

No macro keyboard but I have a programmable mouse with 12 buttons which I assume is similar. You can have different modes with different key bindings so I made 4 modes = 48 buttons.

I don't have that many macros though, it's mostly control keys that are used a lot, arrow keys etc. For coding I have some bindings with ctrl-C, ctrl-V, ctrl-Z, ctrl-/ which work in most editors. Something that's a bit more interesting, I have a button that places the word "exit" in the clipboard, so you can then press the ctrl-V button to paste the word in a terminal, cause a lot of processes (like the ruby console) can't be closed with ctrl-C.

Sadly turns out they've been banned here. Something about them causing stomach issues even though I couldn't find anything about it.
