So it's an isomeric D&D crpg contemporary with Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale (and made in the same engine). Compared to those others it is very dialogue-heavy. Many plot-significant combat encounters can be resolved entirely through dialogue checks, including the final boss.
The game starts with the main character waking up with no memory on as slab in the morgue. Much of the plot revolves around uncovering his own past and deciding what kind of person he will be moving forward.
Not sure what the last one was, but the last couple PC games I bought physical copies of could be installed from the disc, but also had Steam keys in the box and then didn't require the disc to play.
