Didn't know those communities, ty for sharing

a bit annoyed that the main one is hosted at db0 but hey it is what it is

[–] MajesticElevator@lemmy.zip -1 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Probably busy with something else, or agreeing with @v4ld1z@lemmy.zip decision.

Answering would be more respectful than ignoring. I'm staying away from the instance for now.

If you’re unhappy with Lemmy.zip, feel free to change to another instance.

My activity on this account should show that this has happened, but it's unfortunate as I enjoyed the instance

I mean, you’re the one who brought up trans women in sports, admitted to not knowing anything about the subject

That's right, then the lemmy specialists came and hated on me. No source were given, except one, which after checking was a study with low sample size which said that there were small, but non zero, inequalities between cis and trans athletes on a couple of sports, when subject to those sports' rules, while there is no clear consensus on if hormonal treatments are required and the minimum level of testosterone, which can be part of a debate

Apart from that, nothing. So clearly, saying there is equality is misinformation, but saying there is might also be with our current knowledge.

I did my own research. There is no consensus, and anyone saying that there is is lying. However, we do know that having male puberty will make definitive changes to the muscular and bones structure and as such create at least a little inequality, which is ground for debates on the subject. That was my starting point on the subject: the debate is valid and isn't transphobia nor misinformation.

The wrong I potentially agree is saying "biological men" as a mean to refer to cisgender men, instead of using the word "cisgender men". I obviously only used this word in a scientifical context to underline the biological aspect, not as a mean of dogwhistle, but of course if people are against me they will jump on the smallest of things to call me out, even though I wouldn't have used this word in another context. Lessons learned, "cisgender" is also used in science now, so let's not give opponents ammo, and I apologise for this.

and then outright stated you didn’t care if you’re statements caused hurt, so I can see why you copped a (3 day) ban.

I will say it again, but if you're hurt by the fact that there can be a debate on equality between cisgender and transgender athletes, then yes, it's your fault and I don't care, because you're not hurt based on hate speech, but you're hurt because someone has different opinions than you. It's not because you're a minority that you should get a lot of exceptions if that is not fair. There can be a debate and silencing it this way is just manipulation. Passing this as transphobia is deceptive.

Also, your response to someone concerned about CSAM being posted was to say ‘I’m sick of people using “think of the kids” to justify strong moderation’ (paraphrasing)

I strongly believe freedom and transparency should be over security. I have enough of the censoring, auto filtering of messages, manual approvals and believe they do a lot more harm than good. Perfect examples of that is what many governments try to do with the analysis of all of our private messages, phone and computer contents and media... You're just painting me as a weirdo

so you don’t seem like someone worth taking seriously.

This is purely based on your emotions and opinions. I did not misinform or act in bad faith.

Yea, by v4ld1z - I mean their bio tells you enough as well

Thus the reason I want to reach Demi but they don’t give a fuck

[–] MajesticElevator@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

That’s entirely related to the reason I posted the comment above so… yea

[–] MajesticElevator@lemmy.zip -2 points 1 month ago (17 children)

While you’re there, it could be nice if you could answer my email

It’s been 3 weeks now

[–] MajesticElevator@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

wasn't obvious to me

[–] MajesticElevator@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

Heh, fair enough

I don't believe it'll be understood in a good way.. it's pretty explicit that it's supposed to be against LGBT.. but it sure looks good

Just a small post to say that AirVPN currently has a birthday promotion. It’s nothing big, but it’s always something. They have relatively good prices for 1y and more

  • Cryptocurrencies accepted, including Monero
  • Port forwarding (5 iirc)

Promo ends June 12th

(I’m not paid or anything, feel free to delete if unfit)

I recently found the app Sink It for Reddit. It’s a Safari extension for iOS Safari that removes the popups that ask you to download and use the app.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sink-it-for-reddit/id6449873635

Fucking finally, I had enough of their app that doesn’t respect my privacy. Now I can use private browsing as much as I want to.

I don’t know if it unlocks VPN block messages though

When checking in other instances, like lemmy.zip, we can see that monero.town has federation problems. Not all posts are shown (very few).

This is a big problem for the fediverse. My instance admin told me that they contacted the monero.town admin about it but didn’t receive any answer. Monero.town runs an old version of lemmy as well

I’m wondering if we should create a new Monero community on another instance that properly federates. It would bring a lot.

BeReal is often included in the episodes, and each time it is brought up, a character explains what it is. It really feels like a badly integrated sponsorship.

It’s also pretty dumb because the characters and the people that watch HTSDOF probably don’t want to use such app…

Opinions on this?

It would be neat to have a feature where you can show a deleted comment's content, as well as who deleted it, by fetching it in the modlogs, if available.

I'm getting frequent Gateway time-out errors when trying to access lemmy.zip

The website is slow from time to time. Never happened to me before

Hi! I'm looking for an open-source, preferably FOSS video transcoding web interface.

I would like the transcoding to be done on the server side, be secured by a password if possible (so people don't 100% the server), and I want no data sharing. Most important feature: must allow web uploads. I don't want to automate transcoding, or transcode files that are in the server: I want clients to be able to upload their media and get it transcoded.

The transcoding aspect is important: not just a change in container / file extension, but a real transcoding (changing video codec). Being able to change the bitrate is a plus.

I've been looking at many projects and most are sadly either too simple for my needs (only container change, no real ability to choose the codec, or unchangeable bitrate), or focused on files that are already on the server.

(something like a ffmpeg web UI that runs on the server would be great)

Thanks :)

I feel like Crysis Remastered would have been interesting if it had multiplayer support.

When I learned that it only had singleplayer, I was so dissapointed. I had so much fun when playing in multiplayer, then in LAN when servers died, then in custom servers (sadly, most being Deathmatch and not the Power Struggle mod)

Does anyone feel the same?

Wondering if anyone knows good alternatives to Discord's screen sharing feature (good quality, good framerate, low latency, and sound support).

Preferably FOSS, but at this point I'm taking all answers. Feel free to redirect me if there's any other community I should ask this in.

6. How does Waterfox make money?

Waterfox has search partnerships. That is, the default search on Waterfox is monetised. If you search with it, Waterfox gets a share of the revenue. You are under no obligation to use the default search - but if you like what Waterfox does and want to support the project, please consider using it.

Until Then (store.steampowered.com)

I found this randomly on Steam and ended up really liking it!

I still haven't completely finished it yet, but I'm pretty impressed by how long and interesting the story is. The more you go the more mysteries come up and you want to know more.

The characters are lovely and I really like the 2D/3D style. Give it a try!

With the release of Season 4 coming in three days, I guess now is a good time to make a community specialized for this series on Lemmy!
