Basically leaving things only to the canon. Instead of Death oh the Author, it's The Author is a Lich.
It's an over dependence on lore instead of reading into allegory or interpretations outside of the conscious scope of the creators/writers.
X-Men are just mutants and real people, not characters designed to explore marginalization.

The server is the one who's not in control of the situation. it's more like the customer is within his rights to inconvenience wait staff. I think when they lock eyes and the customer wants to keep going is supposed to be funny, but I just see a server having to indulge a customer.
In short, my issue is with a server being the butt of the joke like this. It just seems more mean spirited than funny. Like who is this for?
When you're closer to the exploitation, you have to be more dehumanizing to live with the acquisition of profit.
If you can abstract far enough away from your part in exploitation, you don't have to inflict excessive suffering to justify the cruelty of the exploitation itself.

On another viewing, I think I might see what you're saying. I was fully under the impression that the server was only going because the customer demanded it, not that the server was a willing participant who was actually being competitive.
I only see distress on the server's face while the customer, but maybe I missed something.
