Not sure why you got downvoted. I don't know what a tankie is, but the rest is spot on.

There's a lot more column B on the personal finance lemmy if you want to go further!

Yeah, but unfortunately it's par for the course on lemmy.

There are authors starting to publish without a publisher. I think that is the right direction, not making all books free. Maybe once the publishers have less control there will be some copyright reforms to shorten the time it takes to bring works into the public domain. Right now it is 95 years from publishing, but I think the author's life plus 30 years or something might make a bit more sense. For example, George Orwell has been dead for over 70 years, but his works are still under copyright.

??? Cotton is usually the cheapest thing I see.

Even natural rubber makes microplastics.

You summed it up really well. It's so sad to compare the white house to Sussex drive. It should be a piece of history, not a falling down wreck. I don't think we should go as far as the states, but it should at least be kept in a reasonable state.

At first I thought that this sounds a little extreme, but then I remembered that even if you aren't LGBTQ, you still need to watch out for the mass shootings. So being any kind of minority kind of ups your odds of being murdered.

The two largest sources of microplastics are clothing and car tires. Clothing is a pretty easy fix. Only buy natural fibers like cotton, wool, etc. For car tires you will have to drive less. These two sources account for more than half of microplastics.

Still, you get 10 min outside of a city in Oregon and you start seeing Trump signs

[–] MacroCyclo@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

Where are you seeing them?

Yeah... not very big...

Islands have tiny aquifers relative to the mainland.
