Even back when I was in the laptop-repair game, this is the kinda stuff people would expect me to know about their stuff that I hated. I saw too many features come and go over the years to keep track of even half of it on behalf of others.

Depends on the iGPU, but this being a damn near brand-new laptop, I'm sure you're right.

Maybe if it allowed you to switch to integrated graphics versus discrete, putting the GPU to sleep.

For just browsing, even integrated graphics has been plenty since the beginning of the internet, maybe with some exceptions when Flash gaming reached its pinnacle.

The one usually works best with the other, though.

EDIT: nm, I see what you were getting at in their comment now. They also meant downscaling the Text/UI, not upscaling.

Honestly more respectable than what I was replying to before, unless they were being sarcastic at first.

Seriously though, I dig it. Just a bit off these last few days.

Both use standards that are basically device agnostic, particularly by the time you get to the OS-level. Try to keep up.

In the case of the IMF, its unbelievable how much power and influence they have.

You should be skeptical that those five operating systems are all that it works with. Do you seek out networking equipment that specifically lists compatability with your operating system too?

One of my weirdest experiences in recent years was having a caffeteria worker and her manager tell me the vegan entree was for vegans only.

Apparently vegans are pets now, and the vegan food is un-safe for the rest of us.

Okay, yes, I know, their budget and planning only allowed them to make so much of that dish, but that's also just stupid and sad. Gimme them artichoke hearts, damn it!

"I'm you from the future. I didn't invent a time machine or anything, but I did promise to try to scare you into doing more with your life. Clown school is SO MUCH fun though!" pulls out a syringe, shoots up right there, overdoses, dies

Now its an existential crisis. Please the people that are so petty they'll send him back in time to traumatize themselves, or go enjoy Clown School? Crippling New Fear of making decisions: unlocked.

Real shame its the two failed would-be presidents that explicitly told USians we should trade our guns for healthcare that are taking point on this.

It would have to be tailored by region. There are plenty of places with much lower electricity demand in winter, so those homes getting extra heat from their mining setups would be preferable to just gas heating.

Also, North Hemisphere winter is Southern Hemisphere summer.

Okay, I've got it. Regional currencies that require a local(and low-latency...) gps signal to mine. Make the raw satelite data part of any proof-of-work, and during the seasons where energy-use is to be restricted, shift the proof-of-work weights to favor that data over calculations. Give some people with lower-power rigs a chance to "mine". GPS modules become as useful as ASICs for some.
