The gutting of the humanities and other things generally written off as "frivolous" kind of terrified me. There's something that feels distinctly wrong about these attempts at destroying and anyone that even might turn an introspective gaze on society itself. Like they don't want anything that might foster self-awareness accessible to the layman.

And, it's like, what. Joe Pooptickler in the comments can tell me that I should be institutionalized, thrown out of a helicopter, or institutionalized then thrown out of a helicopter and suddenly i'm the bad one for wanting to sling some shit back at them?

Too awkward and expensive to work for general consumers in the ‘90s, too awkward and expensive to work now

I just kind of hate-read all the time, even imagining guys to get mad at or thinking about things I saw sometimes weeks or months ago when I can’t use the internet

My day job which gives me an actual pension is just a distraction from posting (or thinking about posting)

Am I gonna have to pay for a vpn that actually lets me fake being outside the ‘states? I usually self host on a VM host to avoid incurring expenses, but it seems like that’s not really an option here. Seems like I might have to go for a AWS instance running PiVPN or something.

It's not even always a reading comprehension failure, sometimes they realize the real intent and just kind of do what they want with the material regardless. Authorial intent doesn't mean dick much of the time. Hell, when John Carpenter straight up said They Live wasn't about The Jews on Twitter a few years ago, his replies immediately ended up full of people who just kind of said it was anyways

Yeah, that's kind of what I was wondering. Turns out you can't really do much useful with a self-hosted local VPN, but I like having the option of using one be something my VM host server provides.

Semantics question - Does "False consciousness" exclusively refer to false consciousness as a concept in Marxism, or can it also be used coloquially to refer to any situation where a given population sees problems rooted in reality to some degree but is misdiagnosing the cause en masse? (E.G. pinning clear-cut business world venality and regulatory failure on vague globalists, DEI, The NWO, The Illuminati, or The Jews)

If the former, is there any preferred lingo for the latter situation?

The thing I hate most about other americans is that the weird conspiratorial bent to their politics is almost always directed conspicuously away from the stuff that actually matters like the CIA's bullshit)

Today’s work listening: TrueAnon — High Wierding, P1

Honestly it’s a surprise I haven’t messed with hallucinogens yet, given my love of that old school counterculture. I’m interested, but I don’t have friends in real life and I’m kind of terrified of everyone so I don’t really know who I’d buy from, anyhow. (Luckily I can just buy weed from a dispensary, negating the personal connection angle)

Which one? I've been looking for more stuff focused on direct crit of right wing media. (Also I like hearing people suffer through the dreck)
