I've been wanting to find some historical reading on the Balkans. General histories, more narrowly focused stuff, little bit of everything. Probably best to keep things broad to start, though. Got a long time pen pal in Serbia I'd like to visit someday.

I like the phrase “hypernatalism” for the really pushy stuff and legislative efforts but that’s a turn of phrase that - so far as I know - I kind of came up with myself for my own use.
I’m not really a antinatalist, but I find the vein of hypernatalism common in parts of the internet and among many conservatives kind of invasive, weird, and unnerving. I had an encounter last night that’s kind of weighed on me heavily.
