How is it that the weirdest dudes keep ending up with so much power and influence. Like, this is just bigoted shit obviously, but it's weird bigoted shit. What is it about people that makes them look at a weirdo freak (derogatory) like this and think "this is a man I need to have direct the entirety of my belief system going forward"?

Yep, I can't say I'm surprised either. But the number keeps climbing and there's still a debate. Plus, Labour really seem to want to just be Reform and Farage claims they'll repeal it so maybe Starmer will pounce on the opportunity to copy them again

I agree, there probably wasn't really a winning move for him, but he still panicked after the European elections that year and decided to push the idea of a second referendum more and that definitely killed whatever chance he had in that last election

Potentially, but getting a debate might help, other parties can see it as an easy win. And Labour haven't even issued a response to it, never mind a debate being organised, they could - in theory - take the easy win. But that would also require them to realise they're wildly unpopular and have the sense to do it

Corbyn was also trying to navigate Brexit for those two elections and anything less than a full-throated insistence on parroting "Brexit means Brexit" turned the pro-Brexit crowd away, while the anti-Brexit crowd turned away in advance because he was in favour of it. He bottled it before that second election he lost and tried to get the anti-Brexit crowd back on board and just alienated the pro-Brexit crowd
